Dont Be Beaten By Social Anxiety And Shyness

Shyness or social anxiety can be a debilitating condition that can not only lower a persons quality of life but in it’s extreme can also lead to other conditions such as depression in later life. Experiencing shyness or anxiety happens at one stage or another of our lives. Speaking to strangers can give you a sharp feeling of shyness.

People who stop being shy for years can suffer those feelings rise up again when meeting perhaps an old school teacher, or friend from way back. . It’s not all bad news as you can beat shyness with practise. Unfortunately, your shyness can return when you are feeling low. Planning how you’re going to handle meeting strangers is a good idea. Try to prepare conversational topics so there’s no awkwardness. it’s a good idea to practise conversation with people you are comfortable with, and expand your circle of friends.

Going out with friends is of course always good, but if it’s a certain set of friends that make you feel shy then maybe take a break from seeing them while you work on building up your confidence. Once you feel ready to face them make sure you are ready and don’t feel self conscious to the point that you are back to square one!

Most importantly, don’t be too hard on yourself! Remember you want to improve your self esteem, so don’t be too critical. Start slowly and dont judes yourself too harshly, and take in anything you feel you can improve on.

 

Travelling abroad means you are no longer in your comfort zone and so you are therby becoming more outgoing. Coming home after travelling with that feeling of self confidence, but don’t slip back into your old shy ways. Getting over shyness is an ongoing process. It’s never too late to learn how to stop being shy.
