A fire pit exercise that addresses low self esteem.

Many people suffer from poor self-esteem and need help getting rid of the negative beliefs they hold about themselves. Mentioned hereunder, is a workout you may employ to substitute your doubts with certainties.

To start with, you would require a fire pit. Purchase pre-made or portable fire pits or you  can either build your own.

You have to then tear a number of fragments of paper into equal halves. Use the 50% portion of a paper to express what you call your shortcomings. Write a belief you wish you had about yourself that you can use to replace the negative belief whenever it emerges in your mind on the other hand. An example of a negative belief could be, “I’m not smart enough to start my own business.” A belief or a saying you could use to replace it might be, “I am just as smart as the thousands of people who run successful businesses who didn’t know anything about it when they first started. I can be just like them with the right guidance. This kind of saying is effective because it is positive, objective and based on reality.

Once your beliefs are written down, and you have built or bought your fire pit, you can begin the exercise. For a week, carry one negative belief with you. If you feel the need to indulge in that belief, do so, but try to focus on that belief only; don’t let the other beliefs crowd in. At the end of each week, take the piece of paper on which that negative belief is written, and, using a fire you have made in your fire pit, burn the piece of paper. This is a potent exercise because, with it, you can literally get rid of images of your negative beliefs. Whenever you start experiencing the negative belief you burned in your fire pit, for that next week, carry the other half of the piece of paper, read and focus on the replacement belief you are carrying with you.

Do this exercise with each negative belief you hold. Self-control is key, as it is easy to be distracted by negative thoughts.  It will assist you in doing so by showing useful reminders to help you stay positive. Especially if you take time to focus and really absorb what your new beliefs are and embrace your new healthy self-esteem and over time the positive, realistic thoughts will become more dominant in your mind.
