Learn How To Guard Yourself From Violent Persons

What is so important about self esteem? These days it seems that whatever you find on television a psychologist is advising us how we can feel better about our children, our lives and ourselves. I don’t know about you, but I had no idea I was supposed to be feeling so badly about myself.

Self esteem is a term that psychologists use to explain a person’s feelings about themselves. Concerns about self esteem weren’t even part of common lingo all that long ago. Today self esteem, and the desire to ensure positive self esteem in children, seems to be driving nearly every experience we have.

The Connection Between Self Esteem and Violence

For some time, psychologists suggested that school bullies must suffer from low self esteem, and are taking out their frustrations by threatening and frightening other students. Yet, in 2001, a study calculated that self esteem in bullies was in fact the opposite. And yet, it is children who have a high self esteem who are in fact more prone to turn into bullies, as they aren’t likely to listen to anyone other than themselves.

As a result this then produced questions relating to schools that go out of their way to stop failure and competition among the children. One school in Massachusetts has even gone so far as to have jump rope sessions without the ropes so as to avoid potential bad feelings caused by tripping over the rope. [As a result of, this then creates children who grow into adults who are not capable of dealing with their feelings if their ego is bent out of shape. Those adults, especially males, are much more inclined to violence.

High but Unstable Self Esteem

The most dangerous combination is that of high, but unstable, self esteem. In fact violent criminals usually describe themselves as better than anyone else. As a result this makes rationalizing with them during an attack difficult. Non-lethal self defense guns are a perfect option, plus they are effective for you or your loved ones when you should feel threatened by an individual.

These days you can be stylish and safe, when you purchase a pink tazer, or any one of the obtainable fashion colors. Relatively few attacks are crimes of passion. Rather, they are crimes of opportunity. Knowing that you are able to defend yourself in many situations will increase your self esteem, but do it in a fashion that shows some common sense and justification.

Know how to protect yourself so that you can guard yourself and remain safe.
