Hairstyle Fads: How Much Attention Should You Pay To Them?

Doesn’t it always appear to be that as soon as a fad has caught the eye of the fashion-conscious, you see the same hairstyle everywhere on everyone of each and every walk of life? I mean, take into consideration the “bowl” cut of the 90’s. Everyone had that cut including men, women and kids. I kid you not when I express that while working at the salon, I did twenty of these haircuts in one day. I thought I was likely to be sick. And that fad hung around for years until everybody was sick.

Granted, it’s very tempting to head out and have the latest hairstyle fad. In certain cases, doing so can make you look like you’re on the cutting edge of fashion. In other cases, getting a fad cut can make you appear like a copycat without any fashion sense of your own. So, how do you know if it is alright to follow a particular fad?

Initially, you should consider the reasons you want a particular cut. Is it simply because you truly like the style and think it would blend well with and go with your style of dress or do you merely want the cut simply because so and so has it? When it involves style and hairstyles in specific, what you wear is an expression of who you are. You should never get a style because somebody else wears it and it works well for them. Rather, select styles which are true to your character even though no one else has them.

Next, you should consider how many other people are wearing the style. If you will find only a few and the style is relegated to particular social circles which you are a part of, it may be a good concept to get the cut particularly if it is an expression of your design of dress. But if everybody is obtaining the cut, you might appear like you were trying to copy off of everybody else instead of being yourself.

If you will find fairly couple of people who you’ve seen wearing the cut and none in the area where you live, a fad cut that fits your personality could be a great method to set you apart from the others. For example: You see a great hairstyle on a movie that you think is ideal for you. Go ahead, get the cut, but be certain to change your style once everyone else has caught onto the idea. Doing so will make you a fad setter rather than a fad follower.
