They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they willfully constructed a very exciting social life.

The essential problem, however, is that practically everything they do for excitement includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, and dinner engagements they patronize somehow include drinking.

Sarah and Jerry Begin to Observe Some Noticeable Alcohol Related Problems That are Associated With Their Irresponsible Drinking

If they were moderate or responsible drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a major issue. Due to the fact they drink in a hazardous manner, nonetheless, they are beginning to observe some definite alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just two days ago Jerry was placed in custody for a third DWI and has been leaving early from work because of alcohol-related health issues. Not only this, but Jerry’s last two performance evaluations at work have been less than creditable and he has begun to fail to recall what he does or says while he drinks. Lastly, Jerry has been having sleep-related problems and his family is starting to grow concerned about his drinking situation.

Sarah, on the other hand, has been feeling dejected with things in her life and to come to grips with these feelings, she has been drinking more often than any time in the past eleven months. What is more, Sarah has been getting a lot of throbbing headaches and experiencing intense hangovers after drinking. As a final point, Sarah has been feeling much less energetic when she awakens, she has been getting to work late at least two days per week, and she has been receiving some less than constructive criticism from her relatives, family members, coworkers, and friends about her hazardous drinking.

Watching the TV and Accidently Discovering A Special Program About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Saturday evening while watching the television, Sarah and Jerry flipped through the channels and found a remarkable program about the signs of alcoholism.

This television program was a real realization to Jerry and Sarah because some of the alcoholism signs that were emphasized seemed like they were unwaveringly correlated with several of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been going through.

A Forthright Conversation About Drinking Circumstances Brings to Light Alcohol Related Legal, Employment, Financial, Health, and Relationship Problems

After watching the TV special, Sarah and Jerry decided to have a straightforward discussion about their drinking activities. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social functions were related to drinking, that they were drinking in an excessive manner, and that as a couple, they were starting to see alcohol related relationship, health, financial, employment, and legal problems for the first time since they were married.

With thoughts of the television program still etched in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been displaying could mean that they are addicted to alcohol or conceivably becoming dependent on alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the physicians at the local substance abuse treatment facility to find out more about the gravity of their drinking issues.

Attending To Your Drinking Problems Just Might Decrease Your Anxiety and Give You Some Tranquility

Paradoxically, although their drinking situation hadn’t yet changed, it was plain to see that Sarah and Jerry were at the very least facing their drinking difficulties, they were ready to find out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in discovering how they could substantially reduce or do away with the drinking-related issues that had started to go from bad to worse.

When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that evening, they arrived at a decision that the next day, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment clinic located just North of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to conquer the drinking difficulties that had developed in their lives, they in point of fact had the most peaceful night’s sleep they could think of in the last two months.

Just before he fell asleep, Jerry turned to Sarah and stated how simple it is to lessen one’s sense of dread and in point of fact experience a sense of calm by dealing with one’s problems straight on and making up one’s mind to do something affirmative about them.

Even though she had been teaching for only three of four years, she had already achieved a reputation as a person with educational techniques that inspired and encouraged pupils to think and to learn.

For instance, one Thursday morning at 10:30 she addressed her pupils and stated the following: “For the next week we are going to learn about some basic alcoholism facts from a more wide-ranging viewpoint and we are also going to learn about a number of the most familiar signs of alcoholism from a less general and more detailed viewpoint.”

“Not all of these alcoholism signs will unquestionably prove that someone with a drinking problem is an individual who is addicted to alcohol, but the more signs that a drinker displays, the greater the likelihood that he or she is a person who is alcohol dependent.”

Miss Benning then told the class members that each student would be accountable for researching four alcohol dependence signs and then presenting his or her results to the class via a twenty-five minute oral presentation.

The Students are Wound Up About Giving A Relatively Long Presentation to Their Fellow Students About Alcohol Dependency Signs

After learning about the different signs of alcoholism for several days, the time had finally arrived for the individual presentations. It was immediately noticeable that the students in her class were keyed up about the topic because the material that they presented was outstanding. To say that Miss Benning was pleasantly surprised with the fervor exhibited by her students concerning this subject matter could not be overstated.

The day after all of the students completed their presentations, Miss Benning passed out a sheet of paper with a list of all the alcohol addiction signs that were discussed and presented in the presentations and in class. Miss Benning then asked the pupils in her classroom to study the list and rank the top ten alcohol dependency signs that were most indicative of alcohol addiction. After approximately five minutes, Miss Benning collected the sheets of paper and explained to the students in her class that after she analyzes the results, she will present her findings the next school day.

There was some real anticipation by the pupils while they were exiting Miss Benning’s class. One could swear that her pupils couldn’t wait for the next day to come so that they could find out the results of their in-class research.

The Students Compare Their Results With the Findings From A Panel of Alcoholism Specialists

When the next school day arrived, Miss Benning passed out a sheet of paper that listed the top four alcohol addiction signs as per the students’ rankings. To the right of these results, she added another column that was labeled “correct response.” She then informed the pupils in her classroom that the numbers in the second column she added represented the findings that were given by a council of substance abuse authorities.

Miss Benning told her students to look over the information on the sheet of paper she handed out and then to raise their hand if they had any issues, questions, or concerns. Within 20 or 30 seconds, just about every student in the class raised his or her hand. It was obvious that the pupils had some issues, concerns, or questions about their results versus the answers given by the experts. As an illustration, virtually every student disagreed with the highest ranked answer given by the authorities, that is, “Do you feel exceedingly ill when you quit drinking?”

The Most Important Difference Between Alcohol Dependency and Alcohol Abuse is the Physical Dependency That is Experienced With Alcohol Dependency and Not With Alcohol Abuse

Miss Benning then explained to her students why this answer was the most straightforward indicator of alcohol addiction. She stressed the fact that the most important difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse is the physical addiction that is experienced with alcohol dependency and not with alcohol abuse.

In effect this means that when a person who is alcohol dependent suddenly quits drinking, he or she will suffer through alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Miss Benning then informed the students in her classroom that alcohol withdrawal symptoms are responses by the body and by the brain to the deficiency of alcohol to which they had become accustomed. Stated differently, alcohol withdrawal symptoms are messages from the body and from the brain telling an alcohol addicted individual that something is extremely out of kilter and needs to be fixed. These signals consist of a number of painful, dangerous, and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that can possibly result in someone’s death if the appropriate therapy is not promptly received.

Miss Benning then listed the host of alcohol withdrawal symptoms that can be experienced when an alcohol addicted person suddenly quits drinking.

The fact that Miss Benning tried to emphasize was this: a person who engages in alcohol abuse can experience almost any and every one of the alcohol dependency signs that the students had ranked, but the one symptom or sign that few, if any, people who engage in alcohol abuse ever experience is alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

To explain this as exactly as possible, Miss Benning emphasized the fact that alcohol abusers, unlike alcohol addicted people, are not alcohol dependent and accordingly, when they stop drinking, they almost never suffer from alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

The Pupils Think They Have Discovered A Variance With the Findings From The Team of Drug and Alcohol Addiction Specialists

The pupils also some difficulty with the second ranked answer given by the alcohol dependency specialists, to be precise, “Have you ever had a drink the first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or to get rid of a hangover?”

Miss Benning informed her pupils that this sign does not automatically indicate that the problem is alcohol dependency, but that it does highlight the need that alcoholics have to drink in order to avoid alcohol withdrawals.

After Miss Benning explained the significance of alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the life of the person who is alcohol dependent, the students started to recognize the essential difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction.

To add a sense of closure to the topic, Miss Benning asked the pupils in her classroom to take out a sheet of paper and answer the following question: “if every individual who is alcohol dependent knew about every one of the alcohol withdrawal symptoms and alcohol dependency signs we have studied, what percentage of them do you think would seek alcohol dependency treatment?”

After approximately three or four minutes, Miss Benning asked for the pupils’ responses. While many students reasoned that roughly 85 to 95 percent of alcoholics would ask for alcohol dependency rehab if they knew about the facts related to alcohol withdrawal symptoms and alcohol dependency signs, most of the pupils reasoned that this number would not be less than 55 percent.

The Pupils Were Shocked to Discover That Only 25% of Alcohol Addicted Individuals in the U.S. Seek Alcohol Dependency Treatment

To the amazement of most of the students, Miss Benning mentioned that according to different scientific investigations, only 25% of the alcohol dependent people in the United States ask for alcoholism treatment. This shocked most of the pupils because they thought that first hand experience of the deplorable statistics and facts correlated with alcohol addiction would motivate the majority of the alcohol addicted individuals to seek alcoholism rehabilitation.

Miss Benning then stated that people who are addicted to alcohol not only need alcohol everyday in order to function but they also need alcohol everyday so they can avert possible alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Obviously, the alcohol dependent individual’s need to drink on a daily basis is more powerful than logic or facts. To be sure, because the desire for alcohol is “reality” to the alcoholic, this is a challenging issue that is hard to reverse.

The Incidence of Alcoholism and Mental Health Difficulties Often Leads to Friendship, Relationship, Marital, and Divorce Problems

Finally, Miss Benning told her pupils that it is important to understand that alcohol addiction and a variety of mental health predicaments such as depression are highly correlated. Furthermore, the combination of alcohol addiction and mental health issues often lead to friendship, relationship, divorce, and marital problems.

The Pupils are Inspired to Learn About Alcohol Addiction Symptoms and Signs in Today’s Society

A few minutes later the bell rang, signifying the end of the class. Based on the enthusiasm displayed by the students when they were leaving the room, Miss Benning realized that she had inspired and encouraged her students to stop and think about an important health and social problem that exists in our society. Consequently, the principal told him that he had to see Miss Johnson, the school therapist, before he would be permitted to come back to school.

Later that day when Dante went home after school, he had to go over his school expulsion with his Mom and Dad. His Mom and Dad were “old school” and explained to Dante that getting thrown out of school was not a feasible educational game plan. They informed Dante that failing to graduate from high school would most probably be like a lead weight around his ankles that could conceivably impede his educational attainment for the remainder of his life. In addition, Dante’s Mom and Dad were extremely displeased that he was drinking in the first place and drinking with his buddies in the second.

His parents told Dante that even though he may be a teenager, he needs to comprehend fairly swiftly that drinking is the path to financial problems, ill health, failure, and pain.

It was obvious that his Mother and Father were 100% in agreement with Dante’s principal and explained to Dante that he had better make plans to see Miss Johnson, the school psychologist. After his chat with his Mom and Dad, Dante in the end agreed to see Miss Johnson the next day. So Dante called the school and scheduled an appointment to see Miss Johnson the next day during his first period class.

The Psychologist Asks Dante if He Knows Why His Recent Alcohol-Related Behavior Caused Quite a Bit of Anxiety By the School Administrators

When Dante went to see Miss Johnson, she at once examined all of the alcohol-related issues Dante had gotten into and asked him if he understood why his recent alcohol-related behavior was such a cause for concern.

Quite sincerely, Dante questioned why the principal suggested that he see a school therapist. As he stated to Miss Johnson, why should he see a professional therapist about his drinking behavior? In view of the fact that just about all of his classmates drink as much if not more than he does, fundamentally, drinking shouldn’t be such a big issue. Stated more directly, if almost everybody is drinking, why is this such a big thing?

Miss Johnson asked Dante when he started to drink. He said that some of his older buddies introduced him to drinking hard liquor when he was twelve or thirteen years old and getting ready to enter the seventh grade.

Miss Johnson told Dante that while his classmates may indeed drink more than he does and that they may be a negative influence on him, the facts are that he is the one who is getting kicked out of school due to alcohol-related fighting, delinquency, and absenteeism, not his pals. What is more, Miss Johnson also highlighted the fact that Dante, and not his pals, is the one who is failing and who is missing at least two days of school every week because of his alcohol related problems. Lastly, Miss Johnson emphasized the fact that because of his drinking circumstances, Dante is getting into a damaging cycle of hazardous drinking that can in time ruin his aspirations, hopes, and dreams.

In a word, Dante’s involvement with teenage alcohol abuse was beginning to short-circuit his ability to function as an accountable young man. As conveyed by Miss Johnson, “Just because most of your buddies drink wine coolers, wine, hard liquor, or beer does not mean that it is right for you.”

Dante Learns That In the End He Must Be Responsible For Himself In Order to Prevent Unhealthy, Destructive, Dangerous, and Damaging Circumstances Down the Road

Miss Johnson informed Dante that one’s buddies can undeniably influence a person in an unhealthy manner, but that the individual himself or herself has to in the end be accountable for himself or herself in order to keep away from dangerous, unhealthy, damaging, and destructive outcomes in the future.

Luckily, Miss Johnson was very organized for her scheduled appointment with Dante. She showed him reports and research studies she had highlighted that listed different drinking statistics and facts that targeted most people in general. Then she showed Dante quite a lot of figures and reports that applied particularly to adolescents.

For example, Miss Johnson underscored the difference between alcoholism and alcohol abuse and told Dante that drinkers who continue to drink in an excessive manner commonly become addicted to alcohol.

Miss Johnson also discussed the concept of binge drinking that she defined as follows: drinking five or more drinks in one sitting for males and consuming four or more drinks in one sitting for females.

The Therapist States More Than a Few Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse Facts and Statistics

Then Miss Johnson stated various alcohol facts and the following eight alcohol abuse statistics:

1. As revealed in one study, nearly 11% of 8th-graders, 22% of 10th-graders, and 27% of 12th-graders reported that they engaged in excessive drinking.

2. Between 48% and 64% of the individuals who pass away in fires have blood alcohol levels demonstrating drunkenness.

3. Pre-teens who are drinking alcohol by 7th grade are more likely to report delinquent behavior, substance abuse, and academic problems in both junior high school and high school.

4. In the United States, 33% of all suicides, 25% of all emergency room admissions, and more than 50% of all homicides and incidents of domestic violence are alcohol-related.

5. In the U.S. among drivers between the ages of 15 and 20, deadly crashes involving a single vehicle at night are three times more probable to be alcohol-related than to other deadly accidents.

6. In the U.S., more than 40 percent of the individuals who start drinking before the age of 13 will develop alcohol abuse or alcoholism at some time in their lives.

7. In the U.S, by the time they are high school seniors, 80% of teenagers have used alcohol and 62% have been drunk.

8. Treatment for alcohol dependency has been demonstrated to reduce criminal activity up to 80% among long-term offenders, has increased their rate of employment, decreased their homelessness, and reduced their health care costs.

Dante Receives A Meaningful Wake Up Call Regarding the Long Term and the Short Term Effects of Teen Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Dependency

After Miss Johnson went over the aforementioned alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse facts and statistics, it was apparent that what Miss Johnson revealed to Dante was a wake up call for him. Why? Because for the first time in his young life, someone not only took the time to go over the short term and the long term outcomes of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency, but she also made the effort to authenticate what she was saying with alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse facts and statistics that related to people in general, and chiefly to underage drinkers.

Definitely, it was almost as if a light went on and Dante promptly comprehended why he should not be engaging in excessive and hazardous drinking with or without his friends anymore. Dante thanked Miss Johnson for her concern and for the material she went over.

Miss Johnson then asked Dante how he felt about getting a physical examination and an alcohol evaluation for the alcohol abuse or alcohol dependency rehabilitation he would probably need. Dante thought about this for few minutes and then agreed to get a comprehensive physical exam and to go through an extensive appraisal of his drinking condition so that he could start an alcohol abuse or alcoholism treatment program in a reasonable time frame. After meeting with Miss Johnson, it was evident that Dante’s self esteem and self image had been boosted as he started to face his careless and excessive drinking.

Copyright © 2012 avalon09. Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/465/what-i-learned-about-drug-abuse-and-alcohol-dependency-in-high-school-and-my-boosted-self-esteem-and-self-worth/.

When I was a sophomore in high school, I registered for a drug abuse class. At that age, I did not understand that alcohol abuse in truth was a sub classification of drug abuse. While taking this class and learning more about drug and alcohol abuse and particularly about alcohol side effects, I read a lot about Alcoholic Anonymous, their meetings, how their programs have twelve steps, and how successful the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery program has been for people throughout the world. I also learned quite a bit about alcohol treatment and the various alcohol rehab facilities that are usually available to individuals who engage in abusive drinking.

Detrimental End Results That are Correlated With Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse

Some of the dangerous effects associated with alcoholism and alcohol abuse that I learned about in this class undeniably frightened me. The ruined lives and numerous serious issues experienced by most alcoholics made me feel like I never wanted to drink alcohol when I became old enough. That is, I did not want to face the wreckage and ruination that alcohol addicted individuals almost always experience.

Let this sink in for a moment. What fifteen-year-old individual wants to face premature death due to his or her drinking behavior? What young person wants to become so out-of-control regarding his or her drinking that ingesting alcohol becomes the object of one’s life? What young person wants to go to one of the local alcoholic rehabilitation centers to deal with alcohol-related issues before he or she becomes an adult?

What young person wants to experience alcohol withdrawals when he or she tries to stop drinking? Why would an individual engage in drinking to such an extent that it would cause serious issues in every area of his or her life? Drinking later in life after a person has a career, a family, and develops personal responsibilities makes sense. But why would a teenager want to sacrifice his or her education, employment, finances, and relationships for a life that revolves around abusive drinking?

These issues were so noteworthy that I talked about some of them in class during the school year. What was absolutely unbelievable to me was the number of students who basically didn’t care about the injurious outcomes of excessive drinking that I talked about. It was almost as if they couldn’t be bothered with the facts and how these results can demolish their lives. For the first time in my life I started to understand something that my grandfather used to tell me all through my teen and pre-teen years: you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

It’s Important, Energizing, and Beneficial to Keep Away From the Unhealthy and Destructive Outcomes of Alcohol and Drug Abuse

And even at my young age, I also started to comprehend how liberating, beneficial, and important it is in life to remove yourself from the unhealthy and destructive results of alcohol and drug abuse. And understanding this helped me further enhance my self esteem and self worth.

In point of fact, for the past nine months she has been drinking just about one-and-a-half bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking a number bottles of beer throughout the day. In a word, Jennifer has been drinking so abusively that it’s amazing that she hasn’t suffered from alcohol poisoning.

After feeling unhappy because she was starting to let her health go downhill, Jennifer at long last told herself that she’s had enough, that it’s time to quit the self pity act, that it’s time to quit the excessive drinking, and time to move on with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 9:00 AM, she decided to stop drinking suddenly and completely without planning or preparation.

When She Attempted to Quit Drinking She Felt Ill, She Was Extremely Moody and Anxious, She Had Utterly No Appetite, She Started to Perspire Extensively, Her Head Was Pounding, and She Vomited Several Times

When Jennifer quit drinking, she assumed that she would quite possibly be tempted to ”steal” a couple of drinks, but she never figured that she would feel so awful. More precisely, just about three-and-a-half hours after she stopped drinking, she started to sweat profusely, she had absolutely no appetite, she was extremely tense and moody, she vomited numerous times, and her head was aching.

When she called her best friend and told her that she had stopped drinking and that after a few hours she all of a sudden began experiencing flu-like symptoms, Monica, her best buddy, told Jennifer to call her doctor and go over what was taking place.

She Admits to Her Physician That She Has Been Drinking In an Excessive and Irresponsible Manner, That She Just Tried to Quit Drinking, and That She is Experiencing Terribly Painful Flu-Like Symptoms

So Jennifer called her physician, informed him that she has been drinking in an abusive and excessive manner for several months and that when she tried to abruptly stop drinking earlier in the day, within a couple of hours she felt as if she had the worse flu-like symptoms that she had ever gone through.

Her physician told her that she may be going through symptoms of alcohol withdrawal and that she should have a friend or family member drive her to the emergency room ASAP.

As soon as Jennifer got off the phone, she got a relative to drive her to the hospital. Interestingly, as sick as Jennifer was, all she could think about all the way to the hospital was whether or not she was dependent on alcohol.

Evidently her doctor had phoned ahead and told the emergency room staff to expect Jennifer because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two nurses who promptly told her to get in the wheelchair they had with them. After getting moved to the emergency room and undergoing a couple of basic tests, it was substantiated that Jennifer was in actual fact experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms and was in need of alcohol detoxification.

An emergency room doctor gave her some medications to lessen the discomfort of her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some drugs to help eliminate the alcohol that was still in her blood.

An Alcohol Addiction and Alcohol Abuse Healthcare Professional Explains in a Clear Manner That She is Dependent on Alcohol and Then Discusses What Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms and Alcohol Addiction Stages Are

After a couple of hours, Jennifer was transferred from the ER and transported to the recovery room. After she was in recovery for nearly three hours, Doctor Jeffries, an alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse specialist, came to talk to her. He took plenty of time and explained in a clear fashion that Jennifer had suffered through alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she stopped drinking due to the fact that she had become dependent on alcohol.

He then mentioned the fact that with excessive drinking on an everyday basis, the person’s brain slowly adjusts to the alcohol so that it can function in a “routine” fashion. When the drinker then all at once abstains from drinking, as one would expect, the brain takes action by generating alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Not only this, but her physician also discussed the various alcoholism stages that an alcohol addicted individual usually experiences as the disease progresses.

It is Determined that Jennifer is in the First Stage of Alcoholism and She Receives a Good Prognosis For a Full Recovery if She Gets the Alcohol Addiction Rehab She Requires

Fortunately for Jennifer, it was confirmed that she was in the first stage of alcohol dependency and, as a result, she got a good projection for a full recovery if she gets the alcohol therapy she needs.

Jennifer told the medical practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to recover her life and her health. She also articulated that she has a very comprehensive hospitalization plan that will quite possibly pay for most, if not all, of the costs required for rehab. It was clear to see that Jennifer was extremely happy with her encouraging medical forecast and felt at ease knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol dependency rehabilitation she needs so that she can begin the road to recovery. After Jennifer talked to her healthcare professional, one thing was unmistakable: facing her disease and wanting to follow the healthiest route was good for her self image and her self esteem.

From a positive way of looking at things, although he drank hazardously and abusively when he was a teenager and a young adult, when he got beyond the age of twenty-five he almost always drank in moderation.

After he finished his education he eventually got a job at a local truck assembly plant where he worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing manager. Unlike his other positions, as the purchasing manager he frequently took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to a variety of sporting events.

Though it was not written in stone, meeting with potential vendors and existing vendors time after time involved circumstances in which alcohol was present. Indeed, over the past sixteen months, Stanley had started to appreciably increase his work related and his social drinking. This has led to quite a quandary. More specifically, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more heavily he began to drink.

His Increasing Feelings of Depression Also Made Him Question if He Was Becoming an Alcoholic

In fact, it didn’t take long at all before Stanley’s hazardous and irresponsible drinking started to negatively affect his health, his mental health, his work efficiency, the money in his savings account, and his relationships. After many weeks of excessive drinking, Stanley, if truth be told, started to be concerned about his abusive and unhealthy drinking and questioned whether his alcohol related problems were alcoholism signs. Moreover, his increasing bouts of depression also made him wonder if he was becoming an alcohol dependent person. In a word, Stanley clearly needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction.

Stanley Needs Alcohol Detoxification and Alcohol Treatment For His Alcohol Dependency and a Medical Evaluation Regarding His Depression

So Stanley used his common sense, called his doctor, and made an appointment for a physical examination. A week later after seeing his healthcare practitioner, Stanley unfortunately was told that he was dependent on alcohol. His doctor told Stanley that he needed to get alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation for his alcoholism and that he also needed to get a medical evaluation regarding his depression. In a word, Stanley needed treatment for his alcoholism and depression.

The Positive News is That After His Treatment For Depression and For Alcoholism, He Felt Like a New Individual

His family doctor suggested to Stanley that he take a 30-day leave of absence from work and get enrolled in a quality in-patient alcohol rehab clinic where his depression could also be treated. This is specifically what Stanley did. The good news is that after his treatment for depression and for alcohol addiction, he felt like a new person. Indeed, now that he was in recovery he hardly ever got depressed and he now understood how to more successfully and productively manage his relationships, his job, his finances, and his health.

Not surprisingly, the most challenging “test” Stanley ran into was at the office. More precisely, he still took potential vendors and his existing vendors to lunch and to various sporting events, but after his alcohol rehab he managed to stay away from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It can be stressed that Stanley also learned that none of his potential vendors or his existing vendors thought any less of him because of his abstinence. Instead, he learned that his potential vendors and existing vendors respected him for staying strong to his convictions.

Stanley’s Better Health, Finances, Work Performance, and the Better Relationships He Experienced More Than counterbalanced His Love of Drinking

After Stanley went through alcohol rehab, however, he discovered that he was an individual who for whatever reason, could not drink in moderation or drink responsibly. In fact he found out the hard way that if he stayed away from drinking, all of the other meaningful parts of his life would be upgraded. At times, Stanley missed drinking, but the better work performance, health, finances, and the better relationships he experienced more than compensated for his love of drinking.

Regrettably, after engaging in this “party” lifestyle for about two-and-a-half years, he started to display numerous alcohol related issues.

Barry Begins to Experience Various Alcohol Related Issues

For instance, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so little energy when he got up. Moreover, just about every morning Barry had a nasty hangover. In a word, the combination of his lack of energy and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel energized to go to work. To make things worse, around a week ago he received his second driving under the influence citation in the past two years.

To complicate things further, at his place of employment his last two work assessments were less than suitable. And finally, his six-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his angry outbursts, lack of patience, financial difficulties, and his depression.

Though Barry was only twenty-three years old, he frankly began to look like he was in his early forties. Unfortunately, this is what irresponsible and excessive drinking can do to a person. And from a realistic perspective he grasped the fact that he was experiencing the adverse consequences of alcohol abuse or alcohol addiction and that he was too young to throw away his life to abusive and hazardous drinking. So initially he tried to drink in moderation. Regrettably, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost his self control after consuming his first drink. Stated more precisely, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get intoxicated. Due to the fact that this was an event that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this disturbed him greatly. In fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.

Barry Makes up His Mind To Schedule an Appointment to See His Physician

After talking about his excessive alcohol consumption and his careless and irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually made up his mind to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Barry saw his healthcare practitioner, he sincerely mentioned that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be manifesting alcoholic signs, and that he wants to stop drinking. He then said that drinking responsibly and in moderation doesn’t work well for him and, as a result, he wants to learn how he can live without drinking alcohol.

Barry also told his healthcare practitioner about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His doctor referred Barry to Doctor Clark, an alcohol and drug addiction specialist, who persuaded Barry to enter into an alcohol and drug rehab clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol treatment. Fortunately, Barry would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment facility.

Abstaining From Drinking Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made

After five months of intensive rehab, Barry left the residential rehab facility and continued his recovery via outpatient therapy and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Motivated to change his life in a healthier manner, Barry went to a health store and bought some vitamins and a cookbook. He then joined a fitness center and began working out three or four times per week. Within five months Barry was a new man. He wasn’t depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, he now looked younger than he was, and most important of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also didn’t resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more loving individual in his relationship with his lady friend. In brief, abstaining from drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made.

She never went to any of the happy hours following work and it was recognized throughout the office that she was a deeply religious individual who frequently talked about the pitfalls of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency in our country.

Try to think of the shock inside the company when one Monday morning Shelly did not show up for work and nobody had heard from her. In truth, it wasn’t until close to 10:45 in the morning that the human resources department received a phone call about Shelly from the downtown jail.

Shelly Goes Out Partying Along With a Few of Her University Dorm Mates

Evidently, Shelly went out drinking with a number of her university dorm mates Saturday night and sometime close to 3:45 Sunday morning, Shelly was arrested for a DUI. Because her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was exceptionally high, she had to spend a day-in-a-half inside the downtown jail.

Shelly Talks to Her Manager and The Human Resources Director

When Shelly came to work on Tuesday morning, she right away told her superior what had taken place and she asked if she could possibly go and talk to the Human Resources manager about her “drunk driving” arrest.

When she got to the Human Resources department and met with the manager, she described that she had not been intoxicated since her university days and that she was really embarrassed about her “driving while intoxicated” arrest. She also articulated the point that she needed some help finding a highly trained and productive DUI lawyer who would represent her “drunk driving” case. Stated more precisely, Shelly really wanted the Human Resources director to agree that she needed to see a DUI attorney.

The Human Resources manager told Shelly that she ought to schedule an appointment with someone within the company employee’s assistance program to discuss any probable drinking problem that she might have. The HR manager also mentioned that she needs to go over her need to hire a “driving under the influence” attorney to represent her concerning her “driving while intoxicated” case.

Furthermore, the Human Resources director told Shelly that it was constructive that she really wanted to hire a DWI attorney because of the difficulties and serious outcomes that happen to be affiliated with a DWI conviction.

The Human Resources manager could tell that Shelly was plainly displeased and humiliated by this entire scenario. For this reason he told Shelly that while he doesn’t feel that responsible individuals really should ever get behind the steering wheel right after drinking, sadly these conditions sometimes come to pass to very good individuals.

The Human Resources manager then mentioned that since such a state of affairs can’t be undone, what’s crucial is what the particular person does from this moment forward. As articulated by the Human Resources director, “does the man or women learn from his or her blunders or does the individual develop a pattern of alcohol related problems that cause the particular person long-term suffering and pain”?

Fortunately, Shelly Did Not Have a History of Hazardous and Excessive Drinking

Just before finishing their discussion, the Human Resources director shared with Shelly that it was quite positive that she doesn’t have a track record of hazardous and careless drinking drinking. Not only this but she hasn’t had an alcohol-related situation since her college days (which was roughly 18 years ago). As a result, Shelly should be able to face her DWI arrest with remorse but also with confidence that she will face and sort out this predicament and turn out to be a better individual in the not too distant future.

Shelly thanked the Human Resources manager for his caring and encouraging words and then walked over to the company employee’s assistance program go over her “driving while intoxicated” arrest, her participation in careless and irresponsible drinking over the weekend, and her aspiration to retain a DUI attorney to represent her DWI case.

After listening to Shelly’s “story,” the counselor that was part of the company employee’s assistance program went over Shelly’s immediate “action plan” that she needed to address and follow. First, she would be required to take a DUI class to learn more DUI facts and information. Second, she would also be required to take an alcohol abuse class to address her possible problem drinking. And finally, it would be a particularily sensible thing to do if she were to consult with a DUI lawyer about her “driving under the influence” arrest.

Shelly Feels Comfort Knowing That She Will Learn From Her Mistake and Turn Out To Be More Responsible

It was very clear that Shelly was very disappointed with the whole DUI scenario, but after talking to the Human Resources director and to the nurse inside the company employee’s assistance program, she felt encouraged that she would in reality learn from her blunder and become even more healthy and balanced, much more dependable, and an even more thankful woman.

He was going to represent himself in court, but his father, Sam, told him that this would be a really big mistake. When Ralph heard this, he asked Sam why he should even consider hiring a ”drunk driving lawyer.

Although Sam wasn’t a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a “driving under the influence” arrest, represented himself in court, paid two thousand dollars in penalties and fines, and served 120 days in the city jail. As he mentioned to his son, after he got out of jail, he found out from a lawyer friend that had he hired a DUI attorney to represent him in court, he probably would have had his penalties and fines substantially reduced and he may have never served any time in the local city jail.

What a DUI Lawyer Can Do in a Driving Under the Influence Arrest.

When Ralph heard this he knew he needed more DUI facts so he asked his father for more information about what a DUI attorney can do in a DWI arrest. His dad then stated the following: “If you have been charged with DUI you need a DUI lawyer who will aggressively represent your legal rights through the complexities involved in a DUI case. DUI lawyers will be able to assist you every step of the way through the criminal process and help you find the answers you need.”

When Ralph listend to his father explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the critical nature of hiring a ”drunk driving” attorney. Stated more precisely, Ralph realized that he needed a DUI lawyer.

The Whole Story About Taking a Field Sobriety Test

He then told his father that he had heard a lot about field sobriety tests. Consequently, he asked his father what a field sobriety test was.

His father responded with the following: “Ralph, field sobriety tests are given by police officers to determine if an individual has been operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or both. Field sobriety tests frequently consist of the ‘pen light’ test, the ‘one-leg stand,’ test, the ‘walk and turn’ test, and other field sobriety tests. If you are stopped by the police for a suspected DWI, you need to know that you are not required to take these or any field sobriety tests. What is more, many DUI lawyers think that sobriety tests lack scientific merit and are invalid.”

Ralph’s father then wanted to emphasize the following: “Ralph, unlike a chemical test such as a breathalyzer test, a blood alcohol test, or a saliva test, where refusal to take such a test can have far-reaching and negative consequences, an individual is not legally required to take any field sobriety tests. The bottom line reality is that police officers have typically made up their minds to arrest the individual when they administer one of more of the field sobriety tests. In a word, field sobriety tests provide additional evidence that the driver inevitably ‘fails.’ As a result, and in most instances, a polite refusal to take any field sobriety test may be appropriate”

Near the end of their conversation, Ralph said that was starting to grasp the relevance of “driving under the influence” laws and what DWI attorneys can do for an individual who has received a DWI arrest, but he was still wondering why he was stopped by the police in the first place. In his own words Ralph asked his father the following question: “Dad, why was I stopped by the police? Specifically what were they looking for”?

His father answered Ralph in the following way: “Ralph, there are many different reasons why you could have been ‘pulled over’ by the police. Some illustrations include the following: weaving in and out of traffic, missing a front license plate, tinted windows, speeding, involvement in a traffic accident, driving erratically, and expired registration tags. What is more, an anonymous individual may have reported you to the police after seeing you leaving a restaurant, a sporting event, a party, or a bar ‘under the influence’ and getting behind the wheel of your vehicle. In short, there are many possible reasons why you were ‘pulled over’ by the police.”

After getting “educated” about “driving under the influence” arrests, the role of DUI lawyers, and the fact that he didn’t have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Ralph decided that he would without question hire a DUI attorney to represent him in court.

Ralph Becomes Encouraged That He Will Always Drink Responsibly and Never Go Through Another “Drunk Driving” Arrest

Something else, however, happened after he had talked to his father. Ralph at last started to comprehend the critical nature of “driving under the influence” arrests and as a result, he arrived at a decision that from this moment forward, he would always drink responsibly so that he would never again have to experience another DUI arrest.

His dad smiled at Ralph and told him the following, “Ralph, it took me until I was fifty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am really proud of you.

This did wonders for his self esteem and so Ralph thanked his dad and then said, “if I can always drink responsibly, I will never need to hire a DUI attorney again!”

Does Ralph Need Alcohol Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Abuse or For His Alcoholism?

There was, however, one thing that neither Ralph nor his father thought about, namely, if Ralph needs alcohol rehab for his alcohol abuse or for his alcoholism. In fact, Ralph may be required by the court to get treatment for his unhealthy drinking.

Copyright © 2012 avalon09. Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/190/a-young-male-hits-rock-bottom-beats-his-depression-gets-alcohol-rehabilitation-for-his-irresponsible-and-heavy-drinking-and-enhances-his-self-image/.

Samuel was a forty-two-year-old bookkeeper who was fed up with feeling depressed everyday of his life and sick of his unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. Stated simply, he missed his old enthusiasm for doing various things he enjoyed, he was tired of going through broken relationship after broken relationship due to his constant drinking, he was sick of feeling tired every morning, he was mad at himself for spending his hard-earned money on a worthless habit, and he hated the hangovers he went through on a recurring basis.

Furthermore he was fed up with paying for alcohol-related lawyer fees, he hated the fact that he had to go to court for his second DWI, he was disgusted with how out-of-shape he was, he was irritated with the many times he failed an alcohol test at work, and he was bored with his drinking buddies.

Above and beyond the noticeable alcohol-related health problems he was experiencing, possibly the most damaging part of his drinking behavior was the undependable and scheming individual he had turned into. In his heart he realized that he had been less than truthful about his drinking behavior to his relatives, family, and friends and he also knew he had been untruthful with himself about the “positive” effects of drinking. Not only this but he made excuses for guzzling four or five drinks before going to social events and he also justified needing one or two drinks the first thing in the morning so that he could manage the “tension” at work.

His Depression and His Hazardous and Heavy Drinking Result in Major Changes in His Life

Clearly Samuel was sick of putting up with the adverse outcomes of his depression and his hazardous and abusive drinking and at long last made up his mind that something major had to change in his life. So he decided that he would abstain from drinking, start exercising, involve himself in some worthwhile hobbies, get professional counseling, start focusing on becoming a more healthy person, and develop a new circle of friends.

Simply put, Samuel got to a pivotal time in his life during which he realized that he hit rock bottom and was now ready to begin the gradual path that leads to recovery.

One of the ways that Samuel put his “plan” info operation was by asking for a transfer at his workplace. When his request was approved, he moved 650 miles away to a new city. If nothing else, this positively made making new friends and separating himself from his old buddies much simpler. Then he contacted a physician in his new city and made an appointment for a comprehensive exam.

Samuel Meets With a Healthcare Practitioner About His Excessive and Irresponsible Drinking and His Depression

After meeting with the healthcare professional and taking a number of laboratory tests, it was concluded that Samuel had made the transition from alcohol abuse to alcohol addiction and consequently was in need of alcohol rehab and alcohol detoxification. At this time, the healthcare practitioner made it a point to discuss the different signs of alcoholism, the symptoms of alcoholism, and information about long term alcohol effects with Samuel.

The physician then told Samuel that it was determined that he was clinically depressed and in need of treatment for this medical problem.

Samuel Decides to Fortify His Body by Living an Alcohol-Free Way of Life, Taking Vitamins, Going to the Gym, Drinking Distilled Water, and Eating Healthy Foods

Due to his readiness to follow through with the rehabilitation therapy, after eleven weeks of inpatient treatment, Samuel was ready to begin rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. At this time, he began working at his new job and over the weeks began revitalizing his body by living an alcohol-free lifestyle, drinking spring water, eating nutritious foods, exercising, and taking vitamins.

Samuel also came to grips with his spiritual life by joining the local Calvinist church and attending regular services.

After around seven weeks of outpatient treatment during which time he never suffered through a relapse, Samuel stopped going to alcohol treatment and instead started going twice per week to local AA meetings. Going to these meetings helped Samuel maintain his alcohol-free style of life, they gave him the support he needed, and they served as a steady reminder of the dangerous consequences that are correlated with careless drinking.

After going to AA meetings roughly nine months Samuel felt that he was ready for a relationship and so he started dating Sally, a young lady he met at church. It clearly surprised Samuel how much more prepared he was for a dating relationship now that he had his unhealthy drinking under control. In truth it also astonished Samuel how much better life was now that he wasn’t under the control of his careless and abusive drinking. Life was now joyful and loaded with potential that he could have never wished for or realized when he was engaged in careless drinking just a few short months ago.

A Success Story That is Evidence of the Relevance of Alcohol Rehabilitation and the Power of Positive Thinking

Samuel’s success story is a verification of the significance of alcohol rehabilitation and the power of change. As Samuel thought about his newfound lofty self concept and drive for involving himself in worthwhile, healthy activities, he was actually thankful that he made up his mind to do something productive about his abusive and excessive drinking rather than giving into his depression and into the lure of his addiction. The result: he is in charge of his life rather than letting himself languish under the control of his alcohol dependency, he has more energy now compared with any time in his adult life, his life now has a positive direction, he is involved in a wholesome relationship, and he likes his new job responsibilities.

Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/185/a-young-man-needs-therapy-for-his-extreme-depression-relationship-difficulties-and-for-his-drug-and-alcohol-dependency/.

About nine months ago I had lunch with a thirty-year-old man named Alexander who suffers from acute depression, has relationship issues, and who is drug and alcohol dependent. As articulated by Alexander, it is his alcohol and drug addiction and his acute depression that had the most to do with his constant relationship difficulties.

I recall hearing that a history of mental health issues, chemical dependency, and hazardous and abusive drinking many times happen in the same family. In addiction, I remember hearing that in such situations, a person needs to get treatment for both medical problems and that chemical dependency and mental health issues many times take place in the same person.

As affirmed by Alexander, he is so dejected by his relationship issues and by both of his medical issues that he in effect has little or no reason to accomplish much of anything. What is particularly unfortunate about this is that earlier in his life, Alexander managed to finish two semesters of grad school in middle Eastern studies.

Alexander’s condition makes me wonder if he is an illustration of a person who can look in the mirror and perceive his drug abuse and alcohol drinking problems and do something healthy about these issues or if he is a person who has to hit life’s bottom before he gets drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation that leads to long lasting recovery.

The Need For a Rehab Regimen He Can Believe In and a Therapist He Can Trust

If it would be helpful I would assume that I could suggest several websites that could possibly help him find info about drug abuse symptoms, the stages of alcoholism, chemical dependency information, and relationship problems. In my honest opinion, however, Alexander needs to locate a counseling program he can believe in and follow over the long term and locate a physician he can trust.

I could be in error but it seems to make sense that Alexander probably needs to look within himself regarding his drug addiction signs and alcoholic symptoms and acknowledge the fact that he cannot use drugs or even drink in moderation if he wants to get sober, stay sober, and start on the path to long-term recovery.

It may be asked how therapy would help his chemical dependency. First of all, there are quite a few newly created doctor-prescribed meds that can help Alexander through his withdrawal symptoms, through the alcohol and alcohol detoxification process, and help him avoid a drug or an alcohol relapse.

Second, Alexander would learn to concede the fact that there is entirely nothing positive about drug abuse and excessive and careless drinking and that involving himself in one or both circumstances is the road to deteriorating health, shattered relationships, a premature death, financial difficulties, legal problems, and poor work and school performance.

Third, counseling for his depression and for his relationship problems might help him manage these psychological issues more successfully and possibly create less of a need for him to involve himself in addictive behavior.

The Significance of Support Groups Like Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous

There are reasonably numerous other people, family members, and friends who would desire to help Alexander with his substance abuse and his abusive and unhealthy drinking. He possibly would experience greater acceptance from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, on the other hand, instead of getting advice from people who rarely drink or who have never taken drugs.

When Individuals Accomplish Things They Like and About Which They Are Dedicated

There’s a philosophical viewpoint that emphasizes that individuals who do things they love and something about which they are ardent attain an astonishing place in life. Stated more accurately, when people do what they love, they almost never go through an uneventful life or boredom. If they involve themselves in something that is enjoyable, what is more, they become more complete and experience more happiness and delight in life and in their relationships.

When this is examined more closely it becomes apparent that this uplifting way of thinking is poles apart from a life that is rooted in substance abuse because such a lifestyle removes the contentment and joy that life offers.

Due to the fact that Alexander doesn’t have the ambition to do much of anything in his life, it is clear that he badly needs some hope for a more fulfilling life. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is virtually everywhere around Alexander if he could only get to the point in life to get the counseling he needs for his intense depression and drug dependence and alcohol addiction and remain in his treatment protocol.

Enhanced Relationships, A Meaningful Life, Self Respect, and Positive Change Are a Reality

Alexander is simply too young to be dejected in life. He doesn’t understand this at the moment but if he can learn how to remove himself from alcohol and drugs through drug and alcohol rehabilitation and get the treatment he needs for his extreme depression, he can redirect his life and start living with direction, passion, and with self-respect.

More positive relationships, affirmative change, self esteem, and a wonderful life are certainly possibilities for Alexander if only he could become motivated to get the professional rehabilitation he requires, follow through with his therapy program, live his life in a healthy and drug and alcohol-free way, and learn how to acquire a more positive attitude about his existence.

I have read that under such circumstances, an individual needs to get treatment for both medical problems and that mental health problems and chemical dependency frequently take place in the same individual. Moreover, I recall reading that a history of careless drinking, drug addiction, and/or mental health issues many times happen in the same family.

Plainly, Rachael is so defeated by both of her medical problems that she in actual fact has little or no ambition to complete much of anything. What is particularly sad about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael managed to finish one-and-a-half years of college. Rachael’s condition makes me wonder if she is an example of a person who has to hit the bottom of the barrel before he or she gets alcohol and drug dependency rehab that leads to lasting sobriety.

The Need For a Psychologist She Trusts and a Rehabilitation Program She Can Believe In

If I were in contact with Rachael I could suggest more than a few websites that could possibly help her find info about addiction and alcoholic behavior, relevant substance abuse information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, and info about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. From where I stand, nevertheless, Rachael needs to find a doctor she trusts and a rehab protocol she can believe in and follow through over the long term. I could be in the wrong but it seems to make sense that Rachael probably needs to admit the fact that she cannot drink responsibly or use drugs if she wants to get sober, remain sober, and start on the path to long-term recovery.

I am mindful that there are some newly developed physician-prescribed meds that can help Rachael through her withdrawal symptoms, through the alcohol and alcohol detox process, and help her avoid a drug or an alcohol relapse. Obviously it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she became conversant with these medications.

I would think that Rachael needs to concede the fact that there is absolutely nothing healthy about careless drinking and substance abuse and that involving herself in one or both circumstances is the path to poor work and school performance, legal problems, shattered relationships, deteriorating health, financial difficulties, and a premature death.

The Significance of Support Groups Like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

There are probably a lot of persons such as other individuals, family members, and friends who would want to help Rachael but she probably would experience greater tolerance from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous rather than listening to individuals who drink responsibly or who have never taken drugs.

When People Accomplish Things They Love and About Which They Are Fervent

There’s a school of thought that declares that individuals who do things they like and something about which they are passionate reach a breathtaking place in life. In other words, when people do what they enjoy, they almost never experience boredom or an uneventful life. If they involve themselves in something that is satisfying, furthermore, they become more fulfilled and experience more pleasure and delight in life.

To me, this sounds like the exact opposite of a life that is centered in alcohol and drug addiction because such a lifestyle removes the contentment and delight that life offers.

Due to the fact that Rachael lacks the fortitude to do much of anything in her life, it is evident that she desperately needs some hope for a better existence. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is almost everywhere around Rachael if she could only get to the point in life to get the therapy she needs for her mental illness and drug dependence and alcohol addiction and adhere to her treatment protocol.

Beneficial Change, Self Esteem, and a Wonderful Life Are Possibilities

Rachael is simply too young to be overwhelmed in life. She doesn’t realize this at the moment but if she can learn how to stay away from drugs and alcohol via drug and alcohol rehab and get the treatment she requires for her bipolar condition, she can reorient her life and start living with passion, self-respect, and direction.

Beneficial change, self respect, and a meaningful life are certainly possibilities for Rachael if only she could become inspired to seek the professional rehabilitation she requires, follow through with her treatment protocol, live her life in an addiction-free and healthy way, and foster a more positive attitude about her life.

Moreover, she has also been teaching Sunday school at the local Episcopalian Church. Even though she lived in a small countryside town where it appeared like every person knew everyone’s business, little if nothing was known about Jenny. It almost goes without saying that virtually everyone knew that she had worked quite a few years as a nurse practitioner and that she taught Sunday school for as long as she lived in their small community. Other than that, nevertheless, it almost appeared as if Jenny was simply a visitor in their community.

You can visualize the hoopla that happened when it was revealed that one Sunday morning Jenny had passed out due to inebriation. To be sure, the article in the local daily newspaper reported that Jenny not only passed out, but that she also was arrested for drunk driving because her blood alcohol concentration was considerably more than the legal limit. This is certainly one of the alcohol effects on the body that no Sunday school teacher wants to have discussed by the entire community. But this is specifically what took place, much to the dismay of Jenny.

Jenny Gets Extremely Distraught About Her DUI

Clearly, Jenny was very letdown about her arrest for driving while inebriated. Not only should she have known better about driving while intoxicated because of her nursing job, but she also should have conducted herself according to a more elevated standard because of the basic fact that she taught Sunday school.

After her arrest, Jenny contemplated whether or not she should move out of town so that she would not have to feel discontented about her arrest and also so she wouldn’t have to go over her actions for the five hundred thousandth time to the people in town. After talking to her minister, however, she made up her mind that she would get alcohol treatment at a local drug and alcohol rehab hospital. She did this for two fundamental reasons. First, it was convenient for her to drive to a local counseling center. And second, she frankly wanted the word to get spread among all the individuals in the community that she was openly addressing her abusive and hazardous drinking.

Jenny Goes Through Alcohol Detoxification and Gets a Thorough Physical Exam

After Jenny went through detoxification, she got thoroughly checked by a doctor at the drug and alcohol rehab hospital. She then underwent two or three laboratory tests where it was determined that she was not addicted to alcohol but rather was engaging in abusive and irresponsible drinking. In short Jenny was engaging in long term alcohol abuse.

Jenny was provided with the alternative of getting registered as an in-patient or getting alcohol treatment as an outpatient. Jenny, nevertheless, thought that she could still work as a registered nurse and retain her Sunday school teaching position if she were to be admitted as an out-patient and this is specifically what she did.

According to her treatment protocol, Jenny went to two sessions every three weeks, she learned quite a lot about alcohol info, she worked on her out-of-class “tasks,” and she found out how to do things in life that did not involve drinking.

After ten weeks, Jenny thought that her careless and hazardous drinking was under control and so she got discharged from the rehab center under the condition that she would return for follow up counseling once every three months for the next seven months. Jenny signed an agreement form and followed through on her “word of honor.”

Jenny Makes up Her Mind to Remove Herself From All Drinking Circumstances and Finds Out That Her Self Respect Becomes More Enhanced

After she finished her rehabilitation Jenny thought that she would be able to drink more responsibly than before. After reflecting on things more rigorously, nonetheless, she figured out that she would absolutely remove herself from any and all drinking situations.

When Jenny arrived at this conclusion, she discovered that her self-confidence grew the more efficiently she managed her life. And as her sense of worth grew, it appeared that she became more outgoing and began going to more town activities such as music festivals, local high school football and basketball games, flower festivals, rib roasts, strawberry festivals, carnivals, and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

Jenny Addresses Her Hazardous and Excessive Drinking, Makes up Her Mind To Do Something Affirmative About It, and Rediscovers Her Faith

As the years passed, the individuals in the community expressed more affection for Jenny because she was involving herself with them more often and also because she faced her hazardous drinking and made up her mind to do something productive about it. It may have been her imagination, but it also appeared that her Sunday school students manifested more respect and appreciation for her.

Jenny is a living example of a person who had a hazardous issue and who did something constructive about it. She is also someone who found out that her religious faith is not only something that is intrinsic, but that it is also something that affects the way in which an individual interrelates with other individuals.

As a matter of fact, due to his lethargy and lack of drive, he was without a job far more frequently than he was in a state of employment. And when he did find a job, he had an unusually difficult time getting to work in a timely manner, he usually got less than optimal performance appraisals, and he called off sick so regularly that he commonly got fired a week or two after he began working. It almost goes without saying that one of the outcomes of Jesse’s less than acceptable work history was the fact that he was almost totally broke on a day-to-day basis.

Regardless of Jesse’s awful employment history and financial misconduct, however, somehow he managed to drink in a hazardous and excessive manner on an everyday basis.

So it came as no big shock when Jesse got a second DWI. When he went before the court, the magistrate told Jesse that his alcohol-related actions was terrible and, as a consequence, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve seven months behind bars.

Time In The County Jail To Reflect On The Disruptive Outcomes of Hazardous and Abusive Drinking

During his time in jail, Jesse was expected to learn more about alcohol facts, about the harmful results of hazardous and excessive drinking, and he was required to get alcohol treatment. The judge stressed the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol therapy and discovers how to live an alcohol-free life, he will most likely be spending a considerable amount of time in the municipal jail.

Jesse articulated that he understood what the magistrate was proclaiming but he still claimed that placement in the municipal jail was not the proper ruling. The magistrate thought otherwise and asserted that it was his job to keep alcohol abusers off the streets who drive and drink and who get arrested for a DWI. To authenticate this assertion, the judge quoted some revered, extensively researched alcohol statistics that underlined some of the damaging effects that are related to hazardous drinking.

Even though Jesse understood that he drank in a hazardous and excessive manner, he never believed that he was a person who was dependent on alcohol. So it was a real shocker when Jesse began suffering from alcohol withdrawals roughly six-and-a-half hours after getting locked up in jail.

To monitor his alcohol withdrawals in a harm free manner, Jesse was taken to a drug and alcohol rehab facility for alcohol detox and then brought back to the city jail. While locked up in the municipal jail Jesse received alcohol treatment but since he received this therapy as something that was forced upon him, he neglected to take ownership of his abusive drinking.

When his time behind bars was over, the magistrate without wavering told Jesse that he would be under careful surveillance and would be required to take random breath alcohol tests.

Jessie’s Excessive and Abusive Drinking Prevents Him From Living in an Adult and Mature Manner

After hearing how Jesse was unsuccessful in taking ownership of his drinking problem and how he unwillingly followed the treatment code of behavior while in jail, the magistrate knew that it was just a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about his irresponsible drinking behavior. As the magistrate thought about Jesse’s circumstance, he couldn’t help but think about how some individuals never use their brain and learn how to live in a responsible and accountable manner.

An Old Relationship Strengthens Jesse’s Self Esteem and Inspires and Motivates Him to Thoroughly Change His Life

But something happened in Jesse’s life that completely changed his unsafe lifestyle. One day when he was at the local grocery store buying chewing tobacco, he met Alice, a girl he hadn’t seen since the sixth grade. After some small talk, Alice frankly told Jesse that due to her alcohol and drug addiction she was lucky to be alive.

When Jesse asked her what happened to change her life, she told Jesse that when her cousin Marilyn died from a drug overdose, this forced her to see the destructive and harmful life she had been living.

She underlined the point that the first thing she did after her cousin’s funeral was to begin going back to the church she attended when she was in elementary school. That was seven years ago and with the help, support, and guidance of her reverend and other people who went to her church, she started going to Alcoholics Anonymous and she also got alcohol and drug counseling at the local drug and alcohol treatment hospital. Alice told Jesse that in spite of a couple of rough moments, she is finally on the path to long term recovery and feeling a sense of happiness and delight for the first time since she was a young adult. When Jesse accepted Alice’s invitation to attend her parish she was pleasantly surprised. After going to roughly four or five church services, for the first time since he dropped out of high school, Jesse felt an augmented sense of self esteem and began thinking that perhaps there was hope for him and that he could finally address his alcohol and drug problems and start living a more productive and rewarding life.

For “Alcohol Attentiveness Month” he determined that he would give his attention to the following three topics for a class assignment: alcoholism symptoms, alcoholism statistics, and alcoholic symptoms.

After Mr. Blake put the final touches on the topics that would be given to his students, he made a decision that he would give them their assignment the following Friday morning.

When “assignment day” eventually came, Mr. Blake met with his class, dispersed some appropriate facts and information, and then informed the pupils in his class about the topics he had chosen.

Why It Is Critical to Gain Knowledge and Learn How to Associate Alcoholism Statistics, Alcoholism Symptoms, and Alcoholic Symptoms with Real-Life Circumstances of People Who Are Alcohol Dependent

He then gave his students a general idea of some important alcoholism statistics and alcohol dependency symptoms and signs and highlighted how important it is to figure out how to correlate these statistics, facts, and symptoms with the real-life situations of alcohol dependent individuals. He then gave the members of his class a short explanation about the relevance of learning more about alcohol dependent individuals and how they exist on an everyday basis.

Mr. Blake informed the pupils in his class that they could concentrate on one of the three topics or research all three topics and how they are interconnected. For all intents and purposes this would be analogous to a basic overview but done in a more far-reaching way.

Another option that he offered to his students was the following: opt for a topic such as alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, inquire into things more comprehensively, and then go over four or five signs and symptoms. Mr. Blake then mentioned that the same principals apply to the other two topics, namely, alcoholism statistics and alcoholic symptoms.

The end result of their research would be a four thousand word research paper and then a five minute oral presentation that would be given in front of the class.

Presenting The Results of An Academic Inquiry at the Regional Chemical Dependency Conference

As acknowledgment for their outstanding intellectual attainment, the pupils with the top five overall grades on the research project and on the oral presentation will be asked to present the results of their investigation at the district substance abuse conference during the last ten days of May.

After the pupils were given the assignment for their project, several of them raised their hands and asked for a demonstration of a sub-topic that they could center their attention on for their investigation.

In reaction, Mr. Blake determined that he would concisely chat about two or three alcoholism signs and symptoms that the students could develop.

As an illustration, Mr. Blake articulated the following alcohol addiction symptoms and signs: boasting and a “big shot” complex, cloudy thinking, an obsession with drinking, and loss of control.

Discussing How Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholic Symptoms, and Alcoholism Statistics Are Disclosed in the Life of an Alcoholic

After going over these alcoholism signs and symptoms, Mr. Blake then told the pupils in the class that they could do some further study on each symptom, gather some pertinent information, give a number of illustrations of each sign or symptom, and state how each sign or symptom is revealed in the life of an alcoholic.

As acknowledged by Mr. Blake, because there are more than a few alcoholism signs and symptoms to select, he brought up the fact that he was not exceedingly fretful about two or more students deciding upon the same signs and symptoms for their research project.

To be sure, even if two or more students were to select the same symptoms and signs, the illustrations that are related to each symptom or sign would undoubtedly add enough variety to keep away from duplicate content.

Mr. Blake then remarked that while there are quite a few alcohol addiction signs and symptoms that could be selected, the total number of alcoholism facts and statistics that could be discussed were virtually immeasurable. When the topic of alcoholic symptoms was added to the discussion, furthermore, the students understood quite rapidly that the three topics would provide an enormous amount of material from which to choose.

Why Mr. Blake Decided Upon Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholic Symptoms, and Alcoholism Statistics as the Topics For This Research Project

Why did Mr. Blake decide upon alcoholic symptoms, alcoholism statistics, alcoholism symptoms as the topics for this assignment? Mr. Blake’s wish was that by asking all of his pupils to examine one or more of the three alcoholism topics, he would be successful in enhancing the pupils’ self esteem by helping them achieve academic success and helping them come to a better conception of a complex yet significant topic such as alcoholism.

Mr. Blake also thought that by boosting the understanding of his students about the destructive effects of alcoholism and the miserable existence suffered by alcohol addicted people, his students would have a more positive attitude about their capacity to think more cautiously before they involved themselves in excessive and irresponsible drinking behavior.
