Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/547/tips-to-help-you-stay-motivated/.

Are you trying to turn your life around by starting your own business or getting fit? Whatever your life commitment may be, staying motivated to get you to where you want to go may be a little difficult. You’ve probably learned that getting passionate about something is not difficult, in fact, it’s keeping the level of motivation high that’s tricky. If you need a few tips to help you stay motivated, read on!

Understand that reaching your goal will require hard work. If you are attempting to lose weight, and have signed on the help of a personal trainer but are feeling discouraged, push through these feelings. Remember that it took you a while to gain the weight in the first place, so it will take time to gradually lose the weight as well.

Keep your goal in mind. What is it that you want to conquer? If you have been trying so hard to achieve something for so long, you may start to lose sight of your ultimate goal. You simply get lost in the process. This is true for whatever your goal may be, if its work related or simply family oriented.

Maybe you thought that pregnancy first would be your priority once you reached your adult life. You’ve dreamt about a family for as long as you can remember, but you’re too busy for another responsibility. What do you do? Stay patient and really think about your priorities.

If you are trying to achieve something and you are having a hard time reaching your goal, it may feel like you can’t seem to do anything right. This is exactly the type of mentality you have to avoid. Believing in yourself is powerful. After all, if you do not believe in yourself, who will?

Remind yourself of the things you’ve done right. Remember the successes. Keep track of all of the things you’ve succeeded in doing and all that you’ve accomplished along your journey so far. This will help you push out self-doubt from your thought process.

Find help when you’re feeling stuck. When you are feeling lost and do not know what you are doing find someone who can help you. This is true from assembling your newly purchased sleigh beds, or setting up your business. Do not waste your time feeling frustrated, but find solutions to your problems by asking for help from people who know what they are doing. This will help you spend less time dwelling on problems and more time moving forward toward your goal.

Copyright © 2012 avalon09. Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/445/the-impact-of-hazardous-and-excessive-drinking-on-relationships-and-the-inspiration-needed-to-get-treatment-and-discover-more-happiness-and-self-esteem/.

One of the alcohol abuse facts that somehow, someway escapes several individual’s perception is that irresponsible and excessive drinking repeatedly adversely affects relationships. Stated more explicitly, to a fairly great degree, irresponsible and abusive drinking is to relationships what substance abuse is to a person’s health or what dysfunctional brakes are to the safety of the driver of a vehicle. In all of these instances, the outcome is often a terrible misfortune.

When the link between irresponsible and excessive drinking and relationships is observed a little more attentively, nevertheless, you can find some sound reasons why abusive and hazardous drinking and relationships don’t go together in a very beneficial or healthy manner.

Hazardous Drinking Reduces a Person’s Inhibitions

First, irresponsible and excessive drinking reduces an individual’s inhibitions. This frequently means that an individual who has been drinking has less control over what he or she says and does. The outcome is that people in a relationship who have been drinking are much more likely to engage in unkind and mean interchanges and/or violent physical behavior that may not have taken place if neither individual was drinking.

Hazardous and Abusive Drinking Negatively Affects a Person’s Reasoning, Decision-Making, and Problem Solving Abilities

Second, excessive and unhealthy drinking negatively affects an individual’s problem solving, reasoning, and decision-making skills and abilities. Indeed, if an individual resorts to incoherent decision-making, reasoning, and problem solving skills, this usually adversely influences the choices an individual makes as well as her or his behavior. Such a condition, it is asserted, is a disaster waiting to happen when relationships are concerned because of the sheer number of decisions and problems that need to be addressed on a continual basis.

Hazardous and Abusive Drinking Frequently Influences the Drinker’s Finances in a Harmful Way

Third, careless drinking generally influences the drinker’s finances in an extremely harmful manner. In any case, whether a person buys his or her alcohol at a bar and grill, restaurant, liquor store, sports event, or drinks at home, excessive and hazardous drinking isn’t cheap. And if cash is spent on drinking rather than on utilities, credit card bills, the mortgage, food, car or truck payments, the rent, and so on, critical issues in a relationship are more likely than not right around the corner.

Hazardous and Abusive Drinking Typically Reveals Itself at the Workplace

Fourth, abusive drinking generally manifests itself at a person’s place of employment. To the extent that this occurs, one’s ability to make a living is seriously placed in a risky situation and this, in turn, adversely has an effect on an individual’s relationships.

Heavy Drinking Regularly Results in Difficulties With the Law

Finally, abusive and careless drinking generally leads to issues with the law. Certainly one or more DWIs, as an example, cannot do anything but hurt a relationship from a financial and from an emotional perspective.

You Need Inspiration and Motivation to Get Alcohol Treatment So You Can Stop Your Heavy and Abusive Drinking And Find More Self Esteem and Happiness

So what is the message to be taken away from this discussion? First, if you want to have solid, loving relationships in your life, refrain from hazardous and irresponsible drinking. Second, if you are a drinker and you are in a relationship, if you want to keep this relationship or maybe make it stronger, then make sure you always drink in moderation or not at all. And third, if you have alcohol problems that are adversely affecting your relationship, please seek more alcohol information and consider getting alcohol rehab.

Conclusion

To bring this discussion to a close, it can be determined that irresponsible and abusive drinking adversely has an effect on a person’s relationships because it lowers an individual’s inhibitions and results in inappropriate and mean arguments and/or aggression.

It can also be concluded that unhealthy and abusive drinking negatively affects an individual’s reasoning, problem solving, and decision-making skills and abilities, thus leading to dysfunctional choices and actions.

In a related way, irresponsible drinking usually negatively affects the drinker’s finances, thus affecting the money management skills of the people who are involved in the relationship. What is more, excessive and abusive drinking typically disrupts a relationship because of alcohol-related work complications.

And finally, irresponsible and careless drinking usually results in alcohol related issues with the law such as DUIs, jail time, and fines and penalties. Obviously, these legal predicaments negatively affect most dear relationships.

She never went to any of the happy hours following work and it was recognized throughout the office that she was a deeply religious individual who frequently talked about the pitfalls of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency in our country.

Try to think of the shock inside the company when one Monday morning Shelly did not show up for work and nobody had heard from her. In truth, it wasn’t until close to 10:45 in the morning that the human resources department received a phone call about Shelly from the downtown jail.

Shelly Goes Out Partying Along With a Few of Her University Dorm Mates

Evidently, Shelly went out drinking with a number of her university dorm mates Saturday night and sometime close to 3:45 Sunday morning, Shelly was arrested for a DUI. Because her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was exceptionally high, she had to spend a day-in-a-half inside the downtown jail.

Shelly Talks to Her Manager and The Human Resources Director

When Shelly came to work on Tuesday morning, she right away told her superior what had taken place and she asked if she could possibly go and talk to the Human Resources manager about her “drunk driving” arrest.

When she got to the Human Resources department and met with the manager, she described that she had not been intoxicated since her university days and that she was really embarrassed about her “driving while intoxicated” arrest. She also articulated the point that she needed some help finding a highly trained and productive DUI lawyer who would represent her “drunk driving” case. Stated more precisely, Shelly really wanted the Human Resources director to agree that she needed to see a DUI attorney.

The Human Resources manager told Shelly that she ought to schedule an appointment with someone within the company employee’s assistance program to discuss any probable drinking problem that she might have. The HR manager also mentioned that she needs to go over her need to hire a “driving under the influence” attorney to represent her concerning her “driving while intoxicated” case.

Furthermore, the Human Resources director told Shelly that it was constructive that she really wanted to hire a DWI attorney because of the difficulties and serious outcomes that happen to be affiliated with a DWI conviction.

The Human Resources manager could tell that Shelly was plainly displeased and humiliated by this entire scenario. For this reason he told Shelly that while he doesn’t feel that responsible individuals really should ever get behind the steering wheel right after drinking, sadly these conditions sometimes come to pass to very good individuals.

The Human Resources manager then mentioned that since such a state of affairs can’t be undone, what’s crucial is what the particular person does from this moment forward. As articulated by the Human Resources director, “does the man or women learn from his or her blunders or does the individual develop a pattern of alcohol related problems that cause the particular person long-term suffering and pain”?

Fortunately, Shelly Did Not Have a History of Hazardous and Excessive Drinking

Just before finishing their discussion, the Human Resources director shared with Shelly that it was quite positive that she doesn’t have a track record of hazardous and careless drinking drinking. Not only this but she hasn’t had an alcohol-related situation since her college days (which was roughly 18 years ago). As a result, Shelly should be able to face her DWI arrest with remorse but also with confidence that she will face and sort out this predicament and turn out to be a better individual in the not too distant future.

Shelly thanked the Human Resources manager for his caring and encouraging words and then walked over to the company employee’s assistance program go over her “driving while intoxicated” arrest, her participation in careless and irresponsible drinking over the weekend, and her aspiration to retain a DUI attorney to represent her DWI case.

After listening to Shelly’s “story,” the counselor that was part of the company employee’s assistance program went over Shelly’s immediate “action plan” that she needed to address and follow. First, she would be required to take a DUI class to learn more DUI facts and information. Second, she would also be required to take an alcohol abuse class to address her possible problem drinking. And finally, it would be a particularily sensible thing to do if she were to consult with a DUI lawyer about her “driving under the influence” arrest.

Shelly Feels Comfort Knowing That She Will Learn From Her Mistake and Turn Out To Be More Responsible

It was very clear that Shelly was very disappointed with the whole DUI scenario, but after talking to the Human Resources director and to the nurse inside the company employee’s assistance program, she felt encouraged that she would in reality learn from her blunder and become even more healthy and balanced, much more dependable, and an even more thankful woman.

He was going to represent himself in court, but his father, Sam, told him that this would be a really big mistake. When Ralph heard this, he asked Sam why he should even consider hiring a ”drunk driving lawyer.

Although Sam wasn’t a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a “driving under the influence” arrest, represented himself in court, paid two thousand dollars in penalties and fines, and served 120 days in the city jail. As he mentioned to his son, after he got out of jail, he found out from a lawyer friend that had he hired a DUI attorney to represent him in court, he probably would have had his penalties and fines substantially reduced and he may have never served any time in the local city jail.

What a DUI Lawyer Can Do in a Driving Under the Influence Arrest.

When Ralph heard this he knew he needed more DUI facts so he asked his father for more information about what a DUI attorney can do in a DWI arrest. His dad then stated the following: “If you have been charged with DUI you need a DUI lawyer who will aggressively represent your legal rights through the complexities involved in a DUI case. DUI lawyers will be able to assist you every step of the way through the criminal process and help you find the answers you need.”

When Ralph listend to his father explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the critical nature of hiring a ”drunk driving” attorney. Stated more precisely, Ralph realized that he needed a DUI lawyer.

The Whole Story About Taking a Field Sobriety Test

He then told his father that he had heard a lot about field sobriety tests. Consequently, he asked his father what a field sobriety test was.

His father responded with the following: “Ralph, field sobriety tests are given by police officers to determine if an individual has been operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, drugs, or both. Field sobriety tests frequently consist of the ‘pen light’ test, the ‘one-leg stand,’ test, the ‘walk and turn’ test, and other field sobriety tests. If you are stopped by the police for a suspected DWI, you need to know that you are not required to take these or any field sobriety tests. What is more, many DUI lawyers think that sobriety tests lack scientific merit and are invalid.”

Ralph’s father then wanted to emphasize the following: “Ralph, unlike a chemical test such as a breathalyzer test, a blood alcohol test, or a saliva test, where refusal to take such a test can have far-reaching and negative consequences, an individual is not legally required to take any field sobriety tests. The bottom line reality is that police officers have typically made up their minds to arrest the individual when they administer one of more of the field sobriety tests. In a word, field sobriety tests provide additional evidence that the driver inevitably ‘fails.’ As a result, and in most instances, a polite refusal to take any field sobriety test may be appropriate”

Near the end of their conversation, Ralph said that was starting to grasp the relevance of “driving under the influence” laws and what DWI attorneys can do for an individual who has received a DWI arrest, but he was still wondering why he was stopped by the police in the first place. In his own words Ralph asked his father the following question: “Dad, why was I stopped by the police? Specifically what were they looking for”?

His father answered Ralph in the following way: “Ralph, there are many different reasons why you could have been ‘pulled over’ by the police. Some illustrations include the following: weaving in and out of traffic, missing a front license plate, tinted windows, speeding, involvement in a traffic accident, driving erratically, and expired registration tags. What is more, an anonymous individual may have reported you to the police after seeing you leaving a restaurant, a sporting event, a party, or a bar ‘under the influence’ and getting behind the wheel of your vehicle. In short, there are many possible reasons why you were ‘pulled over’ by the police.”

After getting “educated” about “driving under the influence” arrests, the role of DUI lawyers, and the fact that he didn’t have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Ralph decided that he would without question hire a DUI attorney to represent him in court.

Ralph Becomes Encouraged That He Will Always Drink Responsibly and Never Go Through Another “Drunk Driving” Arrest

Something else, however, happened after he had talked to his father. Ralph at last started to comprehend the critical nature of “driving under the influence” arrests and as a result, he arrived at a decision that from this moment forward, he would always drink responsibly so that he would never again have to experience another DUI arrest.

His dad smiled at Ralph and told him the following, “Ralph, it took me until I was fifty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am really proud of you.

This did wonders for his self esteem and so Ralph thanked his dad and then said, “if I can always drink responsibly, I will never need to hire a DUI attorney again!”

Does Ralph Need Alcohol Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Abuse or For His Alcoholism?

There was, however, one thing that neither Ralph nor his father thought about, namely, if Ralph needs alcohol rehab for his alcohol abuse or for his alcoholism. In fact, Ralph may be required by the court to get treatment for his unhealthy drinking.

Copyright © 2012 avalon09. Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/190/a-young-male-hits-rock-bottom-beats-his-depression-gets-alcohol-rehabilitation-for-his-irresponsible-and-heavy-drinking-and-enhances-his-self-image/.

Samuel was a forty-two-year-old bookkeeper who was fed up with feeling depressed everyday of his life and sick of his unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. Stated simply, he missed his old enthusiasm for doing various things he enjoyed, he was tired of going through broken relationship after broken relationship due to his constant drinking, he was sick of feeling tired every morning, he was mad at himself for spending his hard-earned money on a worthless habit, and he hated the hangovers he went through on a recurring basis.

Furthermore he was fed up with paying for alcohol-related lawyer fees, he hated the fact that he had to go to court for his second DWI, he was disgusted with how out-of-shape he was, he was irritated with the many times he failed an alcohol test at work, and he was bored with his drinking buddies.

Above and beyond the noticeable alcohol-related health problems he was experiencing, possibly the most damaging part of his drinking behavior was the undependable and scheming individual he had turned into. In his heart he realized that he had been less than truthful about his drinking behavior to his relatives, family, and friends and he also knew he had been untruthful with himself about the “positive” effects of drinking. Not only this but he made excuses for guzzling four or five drinks before going to social events and he also justified needing one or two drinks the first thing in the morning so that he could manage the “tension” at work.

His Depression and His Hazardous and Heavy Drinking Result in Major Changes in His Life

Clearly Samuel was sick of putting up with the adverse outcomes of his depression and his hazardous and abusive drinking and at long last made up his mind that something major had to change in his life. So he decided that he would abstain from drinking, start exercising, involve himself in some worthwhile hobbies, get professional counseling, start focusing on becoming a more healthy person, and develop a new circle of friends.

Simply put, Samuel got to a pivotal time in his life during which he realized that he hit rock bottom and was now ready to begin the gradual path that leads to recovery.

One of the ways that Samuel put his “plan” info operation was by asking for a transfer at his workplace. When his request was approved, he moved 650 miles away to a new city. If nothing else, this positively made making new friends and separating himself from his old buddies much simpler. Then he contacted a physician in his new city and made an appointment for a comprehensive exam.

Samuel Meets With a Healthcare Practitioner About His Excessive and Irresponsible Drinking and His Depression

After meeting with the healthcare professional and taking a number of laboratory tests, it was concluded that Samuel had made the transition from alcohol abuse to alcohol addiction and consequently was in need of alcohol rehab and alcohol detoxification. At this time, the healthcare practitioner made it a point to discuss the different signs of alcoholism, the symptoms of alcoholism, and information about long term alcohol effects with Samuel.

The physician then told Samuel that it was determined that he was clinically depressed and in need of treatment for this medical problem.

Samuel Decides to Fortify His Body by Living an Alcohol-Free Way of Life, Taking Vitamins, Going to the Gym, Drinking Distilled Water, and Eating Healthy Foods

Due to his readiness to follow through with the rehabilitation therapy, after eleven weeks of inpatient treatment, Samuel was ready to begin rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. At this time, he began working at his new job and over the weeks began revitalizing his body by living an alcohol-free lifestyle, drinking spring water, eating nutritious foods, exercising, and taking vitamins.

Samuel also came to grips with his spiritual life by joining the local Calvinist church and attending regular services.

After around seven weeks of outpatient treatment during which time he never suffered through a relapse, Samuel stopped going to alcohol treatment and instead started going twice per week to local AA meetings. Going to these meetings helped Samuel maintain his alcohol-free style of life, they gave him the support he needed, and they served as a steady reminder of the dangerous consequences that are correlated with careless drinking.

After going to AA meetings roughly nine months Samuel felt that he was ready for a relationship and so he started dating Sally, a young lady he met at church. It clearly surprised Samuel how much more prepared he was for a dating relationship now that he had his unhealthy drinking under control. In truth it also astonished Samuel how much better life was now that he wasn’t under the control of his careless and abusive drinking. Life was now joyful and loaded with potential that he could have never wished for or realized when he was engaged in careless drinking just a few short months ago.

A Success Story That is Evidence of the Relevance of Alcohol Rehabilitation and the Power of Positive Thinking

Samuel’s success story is a verification of the significance of alcohol rehabilitation and the power of change. As Samuel thought about his newfound lofty self concept and drive for involving himself in worthwhile, healthy activities, he was actually thankful that he made up his mind to do something productive about his abusive and excessive drinking rather than giving into his depression and into the lure of his addiction. The result: he is in charge of his life rather than letting himself languish under the control of his alcohol dependency, he has more energy now compared with any time in his adult life, his life now has a positive direction, he is involved in a wholesome relationship, and he likes his new job responsibilities.

Copyright © 2012 avalon09. Visit the original article at http://raiseselfesteem.com/blog/185/a-young-man-needs-therapy-for-his-extreme-depression-relationship-difficulties-and-for-his-drug-and-alcohol-dependency/.

About nine months ago I had lunch with a thirty-year-old man named Alexander who suffers from acute depression, has relationship issues, and who is drug and alcohol dependent. As articulated by Alexander, it is his alcohol and drug addiction and his acute depression that had the most to do with his constant relationship difficulties.

I recall hearing that a history of mental health issues, chemical dependency, and hazardous and abusive drinking many times happen in the same family. In addiction, I remember hearing that in such situations, a person needs to get treatment for both medical problems and that chemical dependency and mental health issues many times take place in the same person.

As affirmed by Alexander, he is so dejected by his relationship issues and by both of his medical issues that he in effect has little or no reason to accomplish much of anything. What is particularly unfortunate about this is that earlier in his life, Alexander managed to finish two semesters of grad school in middle Eastern studies.

Alexander’s condition makes me wonder if he is an illustration of a person who can look in the mirror and perceive his drug abuse and alcohol drinking problems and do something healthy about these issues or if he is a person who has to hit life’s bottom before he gets drug and alcohol addiction rehabilitation that leads to long lasting recovery.

The Need For a Rehab Regimen He Can Believe In and a Therapist He Can Trust

If it would be helpful I would assume that I could suggest several websites that could possibly help him find info about drug abuse symptoms, the stages of alcoholism, chemical dependency information, and relationship problems. In my honest opinion, however, Alexander needs to locate a counseling program he can believe in and follow over the long term and locate a physician he can trust.

I could be in error but it seems to make sense that Alexander probably needs to look within himself regarding his drug addiction signs and alcoholic symptoms and acknowledge the fact that he cannot use drugs or even drink in moderation if he wants to get sober, stay sober, and start on the path to long-term recovery.

It may be asked how therapy would help his chemical dependency. First of all, there are quite a few newly created doctor-prescribed meds that can help Alexander through his withdrawal symptoms, through the alcohol and alcohol detoxification process, and help him avoid a drug or an alcohol relapse.

Second, Alexander would learn to concede the fact that there is entirely nothing positive about drug abuse and excessive and careless drinking and that involving himself in one or both circumstances is the road to deteriorating health, shattered relationships, a premature death, financial difficulties, legal problems, and poor work and school performance.

Third, counseling for his depression and for his relationship problems might help him manage these psychological issues more successfully and possibly create less of a need for him to involve himself in addictive behavior.

The Significance of Support Groups Like Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous

There are reasonably numerous other people, family members, and friends who would desire to help Alexander with his substance abuse and his abusive and unhealthy drinking. He possibly would experience greater acceptance from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, on the other hand, instead of getting advice from people who rarely drink or who have never taken drugs.

When Individuals Accomplish Things They Like and About Which They Are Dedicated

There’s a philosophical viewpoint that emphasizes that individuals who do things they love and something about which they are ardent attain an astonishing place in life. Stated more accurately, when people do what they love, they almost never go through an uneventful life or boredom. If they involve themselves in something that is enjoyable, what is more, they become more complete and experience more happiness and delight in life and in their relationships.

When this is examined more closely it becomes apparent that this uplifting way of thinking is poles apart from a life that is rooted in substance abuse because such a lifestyle removes the contentment and joy that life offers.

Due to the fact that Alexander doesn’t have the ambition to do much of anything in his life, it is clear that he badly needs some hope for a more fulfilling life. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is virtually everywhere around Alexander if he could only get to the point in life to get the counseling he needs for his intense depression and drug dependence and alcohol addiction and remain in his treatment protocol.

Enhanced Relationships, A Meaningful Life, Self Respect, and Positive Change Are a Reality

Alexander is simply too young to be dejected in life. He doesn’t understand this at the moment but if he can learn how to remove himself from alcohol and drugs through drug and alcohol rehabilitation and get the treatment he needs for his extreme depression, he can redirect his life and start living with direction, passion, and with self-respect.

More positive relationships, affirmative change, self esteem, and a wonderful life are certainly possibilities for Alexander if only he could become motivated to get the professional rehabilitation he requires, follow through with his therapy program, live his life in a healthy and drug and alcohol-free way, and learn how to acquire a more positive attitude about his existence.

I have read that under such circumstances, an individual needs to get treatment for both medical problems and that mental health problems and chemical dependency frequently take place in the same individual. Moreover, I recall reading that a history of careless drinking, drug addiction, and/or mental health issues many times happen in the same family.

Plainly, Rachael is so defeated by both of her medical problems that she in actual fact has little or no ambition to complete much of anything. What is particularly sad about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael managed to finish one-and-a-half years of college. Rachael’s condition makes me wonder if she is an example of a person who has to hit the bottom of the barrel before he or she gets alcohol and drug dependency rehab that leads to lasting sobriety.

The Need For a Psychologist She Trusts and a Rehabilitation Program She Can Believe In

If I were in contact with Rachael I could suggest more than a few websites that could possibly help her find info about addiction and alcoholic behavior, relevant substance abuse information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, and info about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. From where I stand, nevertheless, Rachael needs to find a doctor she trusts and a rehab protocol she can believe in and follow through over the long term. I could be in the wrong but it seems to make sense that Rachael probably needs to admit the fact that she cannot drink responsibly or use drugs if she wants to get sober, remain sober, and start on the path to long-term recovery.

I am mindful that there are some newly developed physician-prescribed meds that can help Rachael through her withdrawal symptoms, through the alcohol and alcohol detox process, and help her avoid a drug or an alcohol relapse. Obviously it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she became conversant with these medications.

I would think that Rachael needs to concede the fact that there is absolutely nothing healthy about careless drinking and substance abuse and that involving herself in one or both circumstances is the path to poor work and school performance, legal problems, shattered relationships, deteriorating health, financial difficulties, and a premature death.

The Significance of Support Groups Like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

There are probably a lot of persons such as other individuals, family members, and friends who would want to help Rachael but she probably would experience greater tolerance from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous rather than listening to individuals who drink responsibly or who have never taken drugs.

When People Accomplish Things They Love and About Which They Are Fervent

There’s a school of thought that declares that individuals who do things they like and something about which they are passionate reach a breathtaking place in life. In other words, when people do what they enjoy, they almost never experience boredom or an uneventful life. If they involve themselves in something that is satisfying, furthermore, they become more fulfilled and experience more pleasure and delight in life.

To me, this sounds like the exact opposite of a life that is centered in alcohol and drug addiction because such a lifestyle removes the contentment and delight that life offers.

Due to the fact that Rachael lacks the fortitude to do much of anything in her life, it is evident that she desperately needs some hope for a better existence. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is almost everywhere around Rachael if she could only get to the point in life to get the therapy she needs for her mental illness and drug dependence and alcohol addiction and adhere to her treatment protocol.

Beneficial Change, Self Esteem, and a Wonderful Life Are Possibilities

Rachael is simply too young to be overwhelmed in life. She doesn’t realize this at the moment but if she can learn how to stay away from drugs and alcohol via drug and alcohol rehab and get the treatment she requires for her bipolar condition, she can reorient her life and start living with passion, self-respect, and direction.

Beneficial change, self respect, and a meaningful life are certainly possibilities for Rachael if only she could become inspired to seek the professional rehabilitation she requires, follow through with her treatment protocol, live her life in an addiction-free and healthy way, and foster a more positive attitude about her life.

Moreover, she has also been teaching Sunday school at the local Episcopalian Church. Even though she lived in a small countryside town where it appeared like every person knew everyone’s business, little if nothing was known about Jenny. It almost goes without saying that virtually everyone knew that she had worked quite a few years as a nurse practitioner and that she taught Sunday school for as long as she lived in their small community. Other than that, nevertheless, it almost appeared as if Jenny was simply a visitor in their community.

You can visualize the hoopla that happened when it was revealed that one Sunday morning Jenny had passed out due to inebriation. To be sure, the article in the local daily newspaper reported that Jenny not only passed out, but that she also was arrested for drunk driving because her blood alcohol concentration was considerably more than the legal limit. This is certainly one of the alcohol effects on the body that no Sunday school teacher wants to have discussed by the entire community. But this is specifically what took place, much to the dismay of Jenny.

Jenny Gets Extremely Distraught About Her DUI

Clearly, Jenny was very letdown about her arrest for driving while inebriated. Not only should she have known better about driving while intoxicated because of her nursing job, but she also should have conducted herself according to a more elevated standard because of the basic fact that she taught Sunday school.

After her arrest, Jenny contemplated whether or not she should move out of town so that she would not have to feel discontented about her arrest and also so she wouldn’t have to go over her actions for the five hundred thousandth time to the people in town. After talking to her minister, however, she made up her mind that she would get alcohol treatment at a local drug and alcohol rehab hospital. She did this for two fundamental reasons. First, it was convenient for her to drive to a local counseling center. And second, she frankly wanted the word to get spread among all the individuals in the community that she was openly addressing her abusive and hazardous drinking.

Jenny Goes Through Alcohol Detoxification and Gets a Thorough Physical Exam

After Jenny went through detoxification, she got thoroughly checked by a doctor at the drug and alcohol rehab hospital. She then underwent two or three laboratory tests where it was determined that she was not addicted to alcohol but rather was engaging in abusive and irresponsible drinking. In short Jenny was engaging in long term alcohol abuse.

Jenny was provided with the alternative of getting registered as an in-patient or getting alcohol treatment as an outpatient. Jenny, nevertheless, thought that she could still work as a registered nurse and retain her Sunday school teaching position if she were to be admitted as an out-patient and this is specifically what she did.

According to her treatment protocol, Jenny went to two sessions every three weeks, she learned quite a lot about alcohol info, she worked on her out-of-class “tasks,” and she found out how to do things in life that did not involve drinking.

After ten weeks, Jenny thought that her careless and hazardous drinking was under control and so she got discharged from the rehab center under the condition that she would return for follow up counseling once every three months for the next seven months. Jenny signed an agreement form and followed through on her “word of honor.”

Jenny Makes up Her Mind to Remove Herself From All Drinking Circumstances and Finds Out That Her Self Respect Becomes More Enhanced

After she finished her rehabilitation Jenny thought that she would be able to drink more responsibly than before. After reflecting on things more rigorously, nonetheless, she figured out that she would absolutely remove herself from any and all drinking situations.

When Jenny arrived at this conclusion, she discovered that her self-confidence grew the more efficiently she managed her life. And as her sense of worth grew, it appeared that she became more outgoing and began going to more town activities such as music festivals, local high school football and basketball games, flower festivals, rib roasts, strawberry festivals, carnivals, and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.

Jenny Addresses Her Hazardous and Excessive Drinking, Makes up Her Mind To Do Something Affirmative About It, and Rediscovers Her Faith

As the years passed, the individuals in the community expressed more affection for Jenny because she was involving herself with them more often and also because she faced her hazardous drinking and made up her mind to do something productive about it. It may have been her imagination, but it also appeared that her Sunday school students manifested more respect and appreciation for her.

Jenny is a living example of a person who had a hazardous issue and who did something constructive about it. She is also someone who found out that her religious faith is not only something that is intrinsic, but that it is also something that affects the way in which an individual interrelates with other individuals.

As a matter of fact, due to his lethargy and lack of drive, he was without a job far more frequently than he was in a state of employment. And when he did find a job, he had an unusually difficult time getting to work in a timely manner, he usually got less than optimal performance appraisals, and he called off sick so regularly that he commonly got fired a week or two after he began working. It almost goes without saying that one of the outcomes of Jesse’s less than acceptable work history was the fact that he was almost totally broke on a day-to-day basis.

Regardless of Jesse’s awful employment history and financial misconduct, however, somehow he managed to drink in a hazardous and excessive manner on an everyday basis.

So it came as no big shock when Jesse got a second DWI. When he went before the court, the magistrate told Jesse that his alcohol-related actions was terrible and, as a consequence, he was going to sentence Jesse to serve seven months behind bars.

Time In The County Jail To Reflect On The Disruptive Outcomes of Hazardous and Abusive Drinking

During his time in jail, Jesse was expected to learn more about alcohol facts, about the harmful results of hazardous and excessive drinking, and he was required to get alcohol treatment. The judge stressed the fact that unless Jesse receives professional alcohol therapy and discovers how to live an alcohol-free life, he will most likely be spending a considerable amount of time in the municipal jail.

Jesse articulated that he understood what the magistrate was proclaiming but he still claimed that placement in the municipal jail was not the proper ruling. The magistrate thought otherwise and asserted that it was his job to keep alcohol abusers off the streets who drive and drink and who get arrested for a DWI. To authenticate this assertion, the judge quoted some revered, extensively researched alcohol statistics that underlined some of the damaging effects that are related to hazardous drinking.

Even though Jesse understood that he drank in a hazardous and excessive manner, he never believed that he was a person who was dependent on alcohol. So it was a real shocker when Jesse began suffering from alcohol withdrawals roughly six-and-a-half hours after getting locked up in jail.

To monitor his alcohol withdrawals in a harm free manner, Jesse was taken to a drug and alcohol rehab facility for alcohol detox and then brought back to the city jail. While locked up in the municipal jail Jesse received alcohol treatment but since he received this therapy as something that was forced upon him, he neglected to take ownership of his abusive drinking.

When his time behind bars was over, the magistrate without wavering told Jesse that he would be under careful surveillance and would be required to take random breath alcohol tests.

Jessie’s Excessive and Abusive Drinking Prevents Him From Living in an Adult and Mature Manner

After hearing how Jesse was unsuccessful in taking ownership of his drinking problem and how he unwillingly followed the treatment code of behavior while in jail, the magistrate knew that it was just a matter of time before he would be seeing Jesse once again in court about his irresponsible drinking behavior. As the magistrate thought about Jesse’s circumstance, he couldn’t help but think about how some individuals never use their brain and learn how to live in a responsible and accountable manner.

An Old Relationship Strengthens Jesse’s Self Esteem and Inspires and Motivates Him to Thoroughly Change His Life

But something happened in Jesse’s life that completely changed his unsafe lifestyle. One day when he was at the local grocery store buying chewing tobacco, he met Alice, a girl he hadn’t seen since the sixth grade. After some small talk, Alice frankly told Jesse that due to her alcohol and drug addiction she was lucky to be alive.

When Jesse asked her what happened to change her life, she told Jesse that when her cousin Marilyn died from a drug overdose, this forced her to see the destructive and harmful life she had been living.

She underlined the point that the first thing she did after her cousin’s funeral was to begin going back to the church she attended when she was in elementary school. That was seven years ago and with the help, support, and guidance of her reverend and other people who went to her church, she started going to Alcoholics Anonymous and she also got alcohol and drug counseling at the local drug and alcohol treatment hospital. Alice told Jesse that in spite of a couple of rough moments, she is finally on the path to long term recovery and feeling a sense of happiness and delight for the first time since she was a young adult. When Jesse accepted Alice’s invitation to attend her parish she was pleasantly surprised. After going to roughly four or five church services, for the first time since he dropped out of high school, Jesse felt an augmented sense of self esteem and began thinking that perhaps there was hope for him and that he could finally address his alcohol and drug problems and start living a more productive and rewarding life.

For “Alcohol Attentiveness Month” he determined that he would give his attention to the following three topics for a class assignment: alcoholism symptoms, alcoholism statistics, and alcoholic symptoms.

After Mr. Blake put the final touches on the topics that would be given to his students, he made a decision that he would give them their assignment the following Friday morning.

When “assignment day” eventually came, Mr. Blake met with his class, dispersed some appropriate facts and information, and then informed the pupils in his class about the topics he had chosen.

Why It Is Critical to Gain Knowledge and Learn How to Associate Alcoholism Statistics, Alcoholism Symptoms, and Alcoholic Symptoms with Real-Life Circumstances of People Who Are Alcohol Dependent

He then gave his students a general idea of some important alcoholism statistics and alcohol dependency symptoms and signs and highlighted how important it is to figure out how to correlate these statistics, facts, and symptoms with the real-life situations of alcohol dependent individuals. He then gave the members of his class a short explanation about the relevance of learning more about alcohol dependent individuals and how they exist on an everyday basis.

Mr. Blake informed the pupils in his class that they could concentrate on one of the three topics or research all three topics and how they are interconnected. For all intents and purposes this would be analogous to a basic overview but done in a more far-reaching way.

Another option that he offered to his students was the following: opt for a topic such as alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, inquire into things more comprehensively, and then go over four or five signs and symptoms. Mr. Blake then mentioned that the same principals apply to the other two topics, namely, alcoholism statistics and alcoholic symptoms.

The end result of their research would be a four thousand word research paper and then a five minute oral presentation that would be given in front of the class.

Presenting The Results of An Academic Inquiry at the Regional Chemical Dependency Conference

As acknowledgment for their outstanding intellectual attainment, the pupils with the top five overall grades on the research project and on the oral presentation will be asked to present the results of their investigation at the district substance abuse conference during the last ten days of May.

After the pupils were given the assignment for their project, several of them raised their hands and asked for a demonstration of a sub-topic that they could center their attention on for their investigation.

In reaction, Mr. Blake determined that he would concisely chat about two or three alcoholism signs and symptoms that the students could develop.

As an illustration, Mr. Blake articulated the following alcohol addiction symptoms and signs: boasting and a “big shot” complex, cloudy thinking, an obsession with drinking, and loss of control.

Discussing How Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholic Symptoms, and Alcoholism Statistics Are Disclosed in the Life of an Alcoholic

After going over these alcoholism signs and symptoms, Mr. Blake then told the pupils in the class that they could do some further study on each symptom, gather some pertinent information, give a number of illustrations of each sign or symptom, and state how each sign or symptom is revealed in the life of an alcoholic.

As acknowledged by Mr. Blake, because there are more than a few alcoholism signs and symptoms to select, he brought up the fact that he was not exceedingly fretful about two or more students deciding upon the same signs and symptoms for their research project.

To be sure, even if two or more students were to select the same symptoms and signs, the illustrations that are related to each symptom or sign would undoubtedly add enough variety to keep away from duplicate content.

Mr. Blake then remarked that while there are quite a few alcohol addiction signs and symptoms that could be selected, the total number of alcoholism facts and statistics that could be discussed were virtually immeasurable. When the topic of alcoholic symptoms was added to the discussion, furthermore, the students understood quite rapidly that the three topics would provide an enormous amount of material from which to choose.

Why Mr. Blake Decided Upon Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholic Symptoms, and Alcoholism Statistics as the Topics For This Research Project

Why did Mr. Blake decide upon alcoholic symptoms, alcoholism statistics, alcoholism symptoms as the topics for this assignment? Mr. Blake’s wish was that by asking all of his pupils to examine one or more of the three alcoholism topics, he would be successful in enhancing the pupils’ self esteem by helping them achieve academic success and helping them come to a better conception of a complex yet significant topic such as alcoholism.

Mr. Blake also thought that by boosting the understanding of his students about the destructive effects of alcoholism and the miserable existence suffered by alcohol addicted people, his students would have a more positive attitude about their capacity to think more cautiously before they involved themselves in excessive and irresponsible drinking behavior.

They met while taking the same computer science class at a small, country, liberal arts college located in the far Western part of the United States. While they were merely good friends at first, they at long last started dating when they were in their first year of college.

Given the fact that both of them came from very conservative backgrounds, neither one of them drank very much beyond the testing stage when they first started to date. As the time progressed, then again, they started to go to more sorority and fraternity parties, football bashes, keg parties, and happy hours. As a consequence, they little by little began to drink more as time passed by.

Their Social Life Regularly Consisted of Going to Restaurants Three or Four Nights Per Week, Going to Parties With Their Friends, Going to Happy Hour With Their Friends, Going to Professional Sporting Events, and Going With Their Friends to the Local Watering Hole on the Weekends

After they graduated from college, they both got jobs in a small city that was nearly fifty miles from their undergraduate college. Then they eventually decided to move in with one another.

Given the fact that they were far removed from the college drinking scene, then again, their social life typically consisted of going to parties with their friends, going to restaurants three or four nights per week, going to happy hour with their friends, going to professional sporting events, and going to the local pub with their buddies on the weekends. In brief, Merissa and Augie began drinking quite extensively.

Now that they were living in the same apartment with one another and starting to get more resolute about their relationship, nonetheless, they started thinking about having children, becoming more responsible, buying a house, and getting married.

With any momentous transformation in a person’s life there is often something that triggers the particular transformation in question. For Augie and Merissa the idea of having children and buying a new house was this “vehicle for change.” To come to the point, for the first time in their lives, Merissa and Augie began to critically evaluate their irresponsible and abusive drinking and the alcohol long term effects on their health.

How Would Their Hazardous and Abusive Drinking Affect Their Relationship With One Another, Their Mental Health, Their Ability to Have Children, Their Relationship With Their Parents, and Their Finances?

Would their heavy drinking adversely affect their ability to have children? How would they be able to continue spending most of their money on drinking if they were to begin saving for a new house? How accountable would they be if they had children and continued to drink in a hazardous and irresponsible manner? How would they be able to face their parents and tell them about their long term dreams, plans, and hopes while they still drank in an abusive and excessive manner while having fun as they did when they were in college? What would their abusive and heavy drinking do to their relationship? How would their heavy and excessive drinking affect their mental health?

From a different slant on things, although neither one of them ever suffered from alcohol poisoning, received a DUI, or experienced alcohol withdrawal symptoms, they realized that their excessive and heavy drinking was becoming a troublesome issue that they could not ”sweep under the carpet” any longer.

After Giving Their Situation Considerable Deliberation, Merissa and Augie Finally Comprehended That Their Aspirations, Hopes, and Dreams Would not be Accomplished if They Continued Their Abusive and Heavy Drinking

All of these queries undeniably resulted in the same conclusion: Augie and Merissa needed to identify more completely with the fact that they couldn’t continue their heavy and irresponsible drinking if their goals, aspirations, and dreams were to be realized.

Once they settled upon this conclusion, they advised their drinking pals about their plans to start a family, about their marital plans, and about their goal of buying or building a new house. They also told their drinking buddies that they still wanted to associate with them but that they would be drinking in strict moderation from this time forward so that they could begin realizing their future dreams, hopes, and plans.

Amazingly, all of their buddies expressed relief because they too had been reappraising their lives and concluded that their life-styles were much too frequently centered around drinking. They also felt that they would have to change radically if they were to become more adult-like and show more forethought for their health, their careers, and for their aspirations in the next five or ten years.

After their frank discussion with their friends about their goals, aspirations, and dreams, Merissa and Augie in essence started to have more meaningful relationships with all of their friends and they experienced a bolstered sense of self esteem. The fundamental reason for this was the fact that all of them had the same mentality regarding their hazardous and irresponsible drinking and their short and long-term aspirations, goals, and plans.

He had studied ninjitsu, gatka, aikido, karate, and judo for four years; he was a body builder; he took daily minerals, supplements, and vitamins; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed like a natural for such a position. In fact, since he was concerned about his health, he started drinking in moderation about three years ago because he didn’t want to experience any negative alcohol effects on the body.

When Frank received the word that he had been hand picked for the job, he was extremely pleased. Due to the fact that this was an exclusive nightclub, however, he had to go through a six week training class.

Individuals At Nightspots Who Drink Abusively and Alcohol Overdose Signs and Symptoms

On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about drinkers who drink in an excessive manner and exhibit problem drinking and what the bartenders, bouncers, and barmaids should do when this condition arises. When the teacher started discussing alcohol poisoning, Frank was delighted to learn that all of the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were required to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they spotted a person who was displaying some of the symptoms of alcohol poisoning.

More exactly, all the new bartenders, bouncers, and barmaids learned that nausea and vomiting were almost always the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was almost certainly the most highly perceptible alcohol poisoning sign or symptom. The instructor also made it a point to highlight the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were messages from the brain and from the body that the person has ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.

There were, nevertheless, numerous other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were trained to be aware of. For instance, the members in the class learned that people who experience alcohol poisoning exhibit poor reflex responses, exhibit confusion, are difficult to awaken, and they often have seizures.

Not only this but, the members in the class learned that many individuals who experience alcohol poisoning also display slow, shallow or irregular breathing; blue tinged or pale skin; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; and slurred speech.

Not only this but, people who experience alcohol poisoning repeatedly exhibit an inability to make eye contact or sustain a conversation, they usually feel very ill and exhibit excessive vomiting, they often display erratic behavior, and they often pass out.

A Lecturer Clarifies Why Alcohol Poisoning is Not Inevitably Experienced Only by Alcohol Dependent Individuals

The trainer then clarified the point that alcohol poisoning is not always experienced only by people who are alcohol dependent.

More specifically, the teacher informed the class that most instances of alcohol poisoning were probably experienced by abusive drinkers and that a specific kind of abusive drinking called “binge drinking” was almost certainly the main precipitating factor in most instances of alcohol poisoning. The instructor then defined binge drinking as follows: consuming five or more alcoholic drinks at one sitting for males and drinking four or more alcoholic beverages at one sitting for females.

To demonstrate the impact that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer explained to the members in the class that a drinker who gets drunk just once or twice on an annual basis, is by definition engaging in alcohol abuse, is probably not an alcoholic, but is more likely than not engaging in binge drinking. As declared by the teacher, engaging in binge drinking even once, regrettably, can result in alcohol poisoning that in some circumstances can be fatal.

The Teacher Give Details Why Letting A Drinker With Alcohol Poisoning Sleep is Not The Appropriate Plan of Action

One of the students in the class raised his hand and asked the trainer if it is a good idea to let a drinker with alcohol poisoning “sleep it off.” The instructor asserted that letting an individual with alcohol poisoning sleep is precisely what should not be done because doing so places the person at risk due to the fact that he or she is no longer being observed. Moreover, letting the person sleep when he or she experiences alcohol poisoning is the wrong response because the individual may never awaken.

The lecturer then explained to the class members that the most fitting response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that a person has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the drinker is underage. By taking this plan of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning treatment he or she needs.

Conclusion

After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it can be emphasized, Frank bolstered his self esteem by wanting to learn even more critical information about these symptoms and signs that might save an individual’s life in the future. Undoubtedly, Frank learned that knowledge of the familiar alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to quickly and properly react to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for emergency medical assistance) can help a drinker avoid a fatal alcohol overdose.

She was fed up from seeing Barry come home late at night from drinking instead of spending time with her and their three sons. She was also drained from the DUI Barry recently received. Moreover she was fed up from generating justifications for her spouse when he couldn’t make it to work on time due to his problems with drinking. Not only this but she was apprehensive and depressed about the fact that their relationship was going downhill due to Barry’s excessive and careless drinking. And finally she was sick and tired of the risky financial situation into which he had put his family because of his hazardous and careless drinking behavior. In sum, Emily felt that her mental health was deteriorating because of her husband’s drinking problems.

When Careless and Excessive Drinking Motivates a Person to do Something Affirmative About a Person’s Drinking Problem

One Sunday afternoon when Emily was reflecting on what she could do about her husband’s hazardous and abusive drinking, she got to the point that she frankly had to do something constructive to cut into the unhealthy cycle of Barry’s hazardous and abusive drinking behavior.

So she looked in the yellow pages under “alcohol rehab” and located a number of rehab facilities that were all located less than thirty miles away from where she and Barry resided.

Since she didn’t know too much about these rehab clinics, she finally determined that she needed to call some of them and ask a couple of questions. When she called each treatment center she introduced herself and said that Barry, her husband, was manifesting unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. She also stated that her spouse had a top-rate health insurance program at his job and that outpatient or residential alcohol dependency rehabilitation would be covered if a doctor in the company health program called for the rehabilitation.

At one treatment clinic, Emily was stunned that she was able to converse directly with a healthcare practitioner who suggested that she come to the treatment facility to go over her husband’s hazardous and excessive drinking behavior in more detail.

Emily Talks to a Healthcare Practitioner About Her Husband’s Hazardous and Abusive Drinking

When Emily arrived at the rehabilitation clinic, she filled out some required forms and then after around five or ten minutes got to see a healthcare practitioner.

After listening to Emily describe her husband’s abusive and excessive drinking, the healthcare professional in a compassionate but resolute manner told Emily how she may have played a part in her spouse’s abusive and careless drinking through the years by minimizing his drinking behavior instead of letting him go through the results of his abusive and unhealthy drinking behavior.

Emily Learns That She Has Been Enabling Her Husband’s Abusive and Irresponsible Drinking

Stated in a slightly different way, the therapist stated to Emily that she may have been accidentally enabling Barry’s hazardous and careless drinking behavior. The physician also emphasized the fact that even though Emily could not control her spouse’s conduct, with the support and encouragement of the treatment team at the healthcare clinic she would not only be able to learn how to stop contributing to Barry’s excessive and hazardous drinking but she would also be able to learn how to encourage him to make an appointment at the rehab facility so that he could discuss his abusive and excessive drinking behavior with a physician.

Fortunately after Emily discussed this with Barry, and he saw that she was serious, Barry told her that he had been quite upset with his careless and abusive drinking behavior and that he was quite pleased to hear that Emily wanted to do something constructive about his unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. As a result, he made an appointment to see a therapist at the local alcohol treatment center. It almost goes without saying that this boosted Emily’s self esteem.

Barry Agrees to See a Counselor About His Excessive and Abusive Drinking

While simply calling a rehabilitation center does not mean that a person’s unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior will end or that one’s warning signs of alcoholism or the alcohol abuse signs one manifests will simply fade away, calling for an appointment is plainly a required component in the treatment process. And due to the fact that Barry was serious about getting professional assistance for his abusive drinking, the probability for a successful recovery was substantially increased.

Jeffrey had a risk taking personality and commonly wanted to do what his older brothers were doing. The primary difficulty with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were for than reason legally allowed to drive a car or truck and to consume alcohol.

Jeffrey, however, had a hard time accepting the actuality that as a fifteen-year-old young person he should not be drinking alcoholic beverages. In fact, however, Jeffrey normally drank with his friends after school, particularly on the weekends.

One weekend, Jeffrey was invited to drive around with some of his older buddies. One of his friends was old enough to buy alcohol. After purchasing some wine, beer, and wine coolers, Jeffrey and his pals went to a public recreational area and drank for around three hours.

A Young Man Loses Consciousness

After drinking around ten bottles of beer, Jeffrey started to feel woozy and then threw up. When he passed out on the tennis court, one of his buddies called 911 for immediate assistance. It was fortunate that the call for emergency assistance was made because when his guy friends went to the hospital to see Jeffrey, they found out that Jeffrey had been suffering from alcohol poisoning symptoms. Stated briefly, Jeffrey had experienced an alcohol overdose.

When Your Friends Drink Too Much

Jeffrey had heard that drinking excessively can lead to an alcohol overdose but he never thought that this could affect him. After all, some of his buddies time and again declared that they could drink twenty four or more cans of beer in a day without suffering from any critical setbacks.

Armed with this information, Jeffrey was frankly taken aback to find out that he had overdosed on alcohol because he “only” had roughly ten alcoholic beverages. When he articulated this to the attending healthcare practitioner at the hospital, then again, the physicain informed Jeffrey that drinking ten wine coolers over a two or three hour time frame could surely be significantly more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The healthcare professional further expressed how excessive alcohol can cause the brain to shut down a person’s respiratory system and that when this comes about, an individual can expire.

The First Symptom of Abusive Drinking

This was the first word of warning to Jeffrey that he was drinking in a risky manner and that there are repercussions for such actions. The healthcare professional told Jeffrey that he was a fortunate young man because he almost lost his life from an alcohol overdose the previous night.

The doctor also talked to Jeffrey’s parents and suggested that they get alcohol rehab for Jeffrey. His parents were delighted that Jeffrey was all right and notified the physicain that they would get Jeffrey alcohol rehabilitation.

While chatting with his parents, Jeffrey notified them that there must be a special reason why he did not expire and that he felt grateful that he was still alive. He also informed his parents that the most ironic part about the entire drinking occurrence was that he had learned about alcohol poisoning the previous six week grading period at school in health class.

When Learning Something in Class Can Affect Your Life

At the time, what his health instructor, Mr. Franklin, was articulating didn’t seem to make a lot of sense to Jeffrey. Due to the fact that he almost died, on the other hand, he felt that he should have listened more closely in health class and applied what he had learned to his daily living.

Jeffrey notified his parents that he couldn’t wait to go to Mr. Franklin’s classroom and express regret to Mr. Franklin for not displaying more attention to a subject that was as pertinent as learning about alcohol abuse and how to keep away from an alcohol overdose.

His parents smiled at Jeffrey and said that they were delighted with the way he was taking responsibility for his unsafe drinking actions and the way he was using this harmful experience to enhance his self esteem. All he had to do now was to let this life threatening experience influence his life in a positive manner so that he would be inspired and motivated to never again suffer from a case of alcohol poisoning.

As a licensed practical nurse, she certainly knew what to tell her patients concerning their health difficulties but in her off-duty life, however, she definitely didn’t practice what she preached. For example, she often drank in an excessive and hazardous manner, she didn’t exercise, she smoked approximately two packs of cigarettes on a day-to-day basis, and she was around thirty-three pounds overweight.

Natalie Gets Into An Automobile Accident, Fails A Breath Alcohol Test, and Goes to Jail

One night on her way to the hospital, Natalie got into a car accident. Due to the fact that the accident was her fault and since her speech was jumbled when she talked, the arresting policeman had her take a breathalyzer test. According to standard police operating procedures, when an individual is involved in a vehicle accident and does not pass an alcohol test, the individual has to spend at least two hours in the county jail.

In point of fact, Natalie should have known better than to drive after she had been drinking because she recently went to an “alcohol awareness” class at the hospital that centered on statistics, issues, and information about alcohol facts such as the following: DUIs, alcohol poisoning, binge drinking, and the fundamental differences between alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse.

Natalie is Experiencing Quite a Bit of Shame About Her Traffic Accident

It almost goes without saying that Natalie was feeling a lot of shame about her traffic accident. Furthermore, she was humiliated by the fact that the accident was her fault. And perhaps worst of all, she was humiliated by the fact that she was driving after she ingested a few drinks. As Natalie thought about this event, nevertheless, she comprehended that it could have been far worse because at the hospital, when a alcohol blood test is administered and failed, the person has to go to obligatory alcohol rehabilitation and is placed on non-pay status. This was in essence one of the alcohol facts that was a reality at the hospital and not much could change this fact.

Natalie’s Humiliation About Her Automobile Accident Makes Her Reconsider Her Life, Make Some Remarkable and Beneficial Alterations, and Increase Her Self Esteem

At any rate, Natalie’s humiliation about her automobile accident caused her to reconsider her life and make some significant and beneficial changes that helped her strengthen her self esteem. First, she was going to abstain from drinking in an abusive manner. Second, she was going to quit smoking. Third, she was going to go on a strict weight-loss diet. And fourth, she was going to start exercising.

As saddened as Natalie was about the entire vehicle accident situation, she used this agonizing experience as a springboard for healthy change. Not only this but, she used her sorrowful experience as a real source of discovery that she had been failing to address her own health while she professionally told other individuals how to live in a more healthy manner. After all had been said and done, she finally saw the fraudulence in her behavior and decided that she would live her life as a constructive source of hope for the people she treated at the hospital.
